Background
Vera was born in 52 BBY on Mirial. She showed force sensitivity from a young age and was quickly sent off as an initiate at the Jedi academy on Coruscant. She was a rambunctious and energetic child, often finding herself in troublesome situations and tight spots.
As a youngling, she was placed into the Thranta Clan and trained by Jedi Master Dooku in lightsaber combat. Her natural ability caught the attention of a young Mace Windu, who convinced his old master Cyslin Myr to take on Vera as a padawan, as Mirialans could only be trained by another Mirialan. Vera became Cyslin's official padawan in 40 BBY.
Cyslin proved to be a steady handed and immovable Master, honing Vera's chaotic, youthful energy into a sharply honed blade. Vera progressed quickly in the art under her tutelage. However, Vera struggled always with the less physical manifestations of the force (Insight, meditation, mind tricks)-- struggling with feelings of jealousy, envy, and self-doubt. She was often her own worse enemy. Cyslin often had to remind Vera that fighting was not the only answer and indeed should only be a last resort when all other options failed.
While on a solo mission in 36 BBY on Barton IV in the outer rim, a simple retrieval mission went horribly wrong after an avalanche buried Vera's ship completely. Unable to pull the ship from the snow or dig down to it, Vera sought refuge in a nearby cave. With no supplies and no way to make a distress call, Vera turned inward to the force. In the freezing cold, Vera entered deep meditation and was able to send a distress message through the force to Cyslin. Vera was stranded for 6 days and spent all of it in deep near-death meditation, forced to reconcile with her dark inner self. When she was found, she was first assumed to have frozen to death, but was able to be slowly revived, loosing only a single finger in the process.
The Jedi Council agreed that Vera had completed a Trial of Spirit and made her a Jedi Knight that same year. Vera also chose to gain her Mirialan tattoos in this moment, taking diamonds on her arms in addition to the geometric lines on her cheeks she chose when she became a padawan.
Choosing to follow in the footsteps of Mace Windu, Vera continued her study of saber forms, leaning more in to Form VII, the Ferocity Form, studying the Vaapad varient with Mace Windu and Sora Bulq. Though Mace was reticent to teach her, Vera told him of her trial and the darkness she accepted within herself and he agreed. However, as the Clone Wars began, Mace's priorities turned else where and Vera never fully completed his training.
During the Clone Wars, Vera was fully committed to the Jedi order and found herself in the command of a small squad of Storm Troopers. She often found herself in the middle of battle and grew close to her squad. While stationed on Kashyyyk with Master Yoda, Cyslin sent a young Miralan padawan named Naria Atto to join Vera. Only two weeks later while on a scouting mission deep in the Jungle, Vera's squad turned on her and Naria, taking out Naria first. Vera narrowly escaped, having to kill her friends.
Uncertain of what went wrong, but fearing the worst, Vera slipped into the woods, relying on the skills she learned while trapped on Barton IV to survive in the Kashyyyk wilderness. She learned eventually of the fall of the Jedi order and figured that they would be after her if they knew she too had survived. Seeing the Imperial grab of Kashyyyk, she took her chance in the chaos and with the help of a few rebel wookies, managed to get off planet.
Lost and alone without the Jedi, mourning the death of her friends, her master, and the young Padawan in her care, fearing the power of the dark side, Vera closed herself off from the Force. She has spent the last seven years in the outter rim, making ends meet and keeping away from the eyes of the empire. Though she has heard of the work of the Resistance, Vera has grown jaded and disillusioned with the ways of the Jedi. Hope is a fickle and fleeting thing that's likely to get you killed.
However, when a romantic mood strikes her, she can become a thorn in the dark side’s foot. She has been known to single handedly take down small groups of slave traders.
Motivation
Obligation
+5 Bounty-- Even though she has closed herself off from the force, there are still those in the Empire searching for her.
+10 Oath-- Crisis of Faith-- Vera has abandoned the force and lives in exile. She buried her lightsaber and walked away from it, vowing to forget the spot she placed it. Vera doesn't have access to force powers until she comes to terms with her past and takes on the mantle once more.
Morality
40
Emotional Strength: Independence: This character believes in relying on herself. He does not count on others to preform tasks for him, instead she ensures she can handle any situation she finds herself in. She refuses to be a burden on others.
Weakness: Coldness. Self-reliance can slip into isolation if one is not careful. A cold character doesn't just desire to rely only on herself, but has nothing but disinterest for anyone else. If they can't help themselves, why should she aid them?
