Vella Kariss was trained in the ways of the force by the Jedi Order. Apprenticed to Sett Harma, Jedi Knight, she had begun her training in the ways of stealth and subterfuge to better help the public against the criminal element. However, when it was discovered the Sith had returned these skills were very valuable for hunting Sith.

Unfortunately, the first mission Vel Karik and Sett Harma went on together ended in tragedy. They met with Sith resistance, Vella's face was scarred by the battle, but even worse, her master died defeating the Sith, leaving her stranded on the planet for a time before she could return to the Jedi temple.

When she did return, she was changed. In her training, she focused entirely on Lightsaber combat. Instead of learning to search the streets of the common people, she began to master Niman lightsaber combat. She does this to protect people from the Sith, but some part of her also seeks revenge...

Justice / Hatred

Vel wants to be a just person who helps and protects the helpless. While this is very admirable for a jedi, her wish to bring the Sith to justice and avenge her master can sometimes outweigh this noble trait and lead her down darker paths if she isn't careful.
