Influence
Description
The ability to influence the minds of others is not something to take lightly. Misuse of the ability, colloquially known as a "mind trick", is a sure step on the path to the dark side. A powerful Force user can manipulate the minds of others to the point where he can convince them to believe things that are untrue, or calm an angry crowd. Conversely, he can rile the crowd into a murderous frenzy, or frighten a single soul into gibbering madness. This is where the danger of Influence lies.

However, Influence is not inherently evil. Many Force users have used Influence to protect the helpless or to deal with a threat in a way that avoids violence. It is much better to convince a guard to return to his post than to have to kill him.

Influence's most basic and arguably crudest ability allows the user to inflict strain on a living target, stressing his mind until he passes out. However, upgrades allow the Force user who specializes in Influence to perform much more subtle and impressive feats.

Background

The High and Mighty
Characters from this type of background include landed gentry, wealthy business owners, doctors, politicians, and any other position or upbringing that brings with it money, power, and status above that of the common rabble. The character might find themself fleeing their former life with only the (admittedly upscale) clothes on their back and nothing else but their abilities, skills, and will to survive in the unforgiving galaxy.

A Failure of Character
Some inherent flaw in the character causes them to leave behind the life they knew for the unknown.

Wanderer
Curiosity? Boredom? Tragic circumstance? A desire for something more? Whatever it is that drives someone to wander away from their home and set out among the stars, it must be a powerful force to overcome the fear of the unknown.

Academic
For the student who seeks history, science, and other knowledge beyond the halls of academia, the stars can be an undeniable siren's song.

Motivation

Obligations

Fervor: The character is possessed of a powerful drive to act based on religious or spiritual beliefs. As an Obligation, Fervor means that they cannot resist acting in accordance with their beliefs and teachings. The PC may even have those who support them in some way (thus explaining the resources they potentially attain due to the Obligation), further exhorting the character to follow "the Way" the group all revere. Consider the Archaeologist who seeks temples dedicated to a lost god or the Big-Game Hunter who truly believes that it is their divine destiny to eradicate "monsters" throughout the galaxy. and

Debt: A Trader may well be up to their eyeballs in debt thanks to too many failed shipments, while an Archaeologist may have risked everything on a find they still can't track down. A Big-Game Hunter may have a great kit for the hunt, but they borrowed to the hilt to get it. and a Driver may have the hottest speeder in the quadrant yet owe thousands of credits to the local sharks for all the mods they've made.

Description

Iktotchi occasionally see glimpses of the future, letting them predict certain events even before they occur. In addition to seeing flashes of the future at the GM's discretion, an Iktotchi may spend a Triumph on a check to determine Initiative to perform a free maneuver before the encounter begins or to have an ally in short range perform a free maneuver before the encounter begins.
