Background
Gen's life had seemed to have a promising start. He had been inducted into the School of the Way and was set for a life of subterfuge and cunning as a diplomat working on behalf of Clan Evat, as his father Renshak had. He had shown a natural predilection for the kind of political wheeling and dealing rife in the high clans, even at a young age. His mentors had noted he possessed a knack for secrecy, blackmail and ruthless cunning that would make him a valuable asset so Gen's star was very much on the ascent, which would only serve to bring pride and esteem to his family. His parents would no doubt have been in a better position to negotiate places for his younger brother and sister within the School had the Empire not arrived. It had been one of the rare times Gen's father had been allowed to bring the family on a diplomatic mission for the Clan, their transport was stopped by an Imperial Interdictor Class Star Destroyer under the command of Moff Drevan. The Imperial scum ignored the diplomatic immunity afforded to his father and by extension, his family, and accused them of spying. When stormtroopers tried to seize Gen's mother, his father responded by tearing out the throat of the offending stormtrooper. Moff Drevan responded by gunning down his nine year old sister and threatened to execute them all if his father did not "behave." Whilst Renshak acquiesced, broken by the loss of his daughter and afraid for the safety of his remaining children, Gen lost himself to rage and launched himself at the Moff. He didn't even get close as Drevan's elite bodyguard slashed at his outstretched arm with a vibrosword, nearly severing the arm completely. Gen awoke in a cell, having blacked out from the pain, to find his arm masterfully sewn and healed. With only the distant screams of his parents being tortured for company, Gen realised that there would be much more pain that the Moff wanted to share out.
After what Gen later learned was two months aboard the Destroyer, Bothawui eventually negotiated Gen's release. And only Gen's. His parents and younger sibling had succumbed to torture, as he nearly had twice. When he returned he found Clan Evat had suffered financial ruination. His father stood accused of sharing Clan secrets with the Imperials despite Gen's protests that his father had been tortured and would never willingly divulge such information. But his words fell on deaf ears. Some even suggested that Renshak was still alive, and that this was all some elaborate ruse to secure himself a wealthy new start in Imperial space. Having struggled to maintain his composure in the face of such unfair accusations, and still grieving the loss of his family, he was soon made outcast when he told the Clan elders exactly what he thought of their allegations.
By the age of twenty, and with no Clan sponsorship, Gen had already spent years living in the poverty stricken districts of Bothawui, trading and selling illegal secrets and honing his skills as a spy, informant and power broker. Having accumulated a small fortune, Gen had sworn to use every credit and every ounce of skill he possessed to hurt the Empire in any way that he could. He kept his Clan name so that one day, when he had wrought ruin on his enemies, that Clan Evat and the whole of Bothawui would know his deeds. That they would regret their treachery and fear his intent.
Gen began travelling the stars in search of secrets that would unravel the Imperial menace and send their Empire screaming into the void. This had been his only aim until a rumour had reached his ears that somehow, his younger brother was still alive and that the Rebel Alliance may have more information.
