Background
What kind of family/world was I born to?
Corvin was born on Alderaan. His family were fairly wealthy merchants, but he was to never really experience that life. At age 2, his Force potential was recognized and he was sent to Tython to be trained by the Jedi.

Acquiring a lightsaber:
Master Su traveled with Corvin to Ilum. She had pushed him for months to practice his meditation, to center himself, to remain calm, to think through things and not let his emotions get the best of him. Other exercises had also occurred, but the focus had been on the aforementioned. Their shuttle/ship landed near their destination, but the final miles of the journey had to be made on foot. Corvin dutifully walked with his master, mindful of his surroundings and wary in spite of knowing why they had come. Eventually they came to a tunnel leading below the surface. Master Su stopped at the threshold and there instructed him, "Inside is where you must go. But what lies inside is for you, not me. You must complete this journey on your own." Her last words were, "Be mindful of your training."
Corvin nodded after a moment, an assurance, "Yes, Master," and then proceeded into the tunnel filled with crystals. He ignited his training saber to provide some light and pressed on and down. The way twisted and turned, gradually moving ever downward, ever deeper. Then, a sound, a crash, a tumbling of rocks, a cry of pain. He rushed ahead, heedless of any potential danger. The tunnel opened up into a large chamber, rubble laid in the center and sky could be seen from high overhead. In the rubble was Master Su, caught beneath the rubble and apparently hurt badly.
"Master Su!" he cried out as he ran towards her. Falling to his knees beside her, he checked for signs of life. They were there, but it was also clear that she was badly hurt. He began trying to shift some of the rocks away, but the larger ones proved too heavy. He growled in anger, in fear, then caught himself. He let out a deep breath and knelt on the ground, calming himself. He lifted a hand and reached out with the Force. One large rock shifted and was lifted away, and then another. His peace and efforts were then broken by a bestial sound. He redoubled his effort, but not fast enough to free Master Su before it arrived, a gorgodon. A hulking reptilian creature. He had heard of them and because of that had great reason to fear it. They were resistant to great trauma, very difficult to defeat, but he did not flee. His lightsaber came between him and the beast. He would defend his Master. The beast came at him and he at it, blows were traded and Corvin was taking the worst of it. A lucky blow of his, however, managed to startle the beast and caused it to retreat.
He returned to his Master's side, and his slow work at clearing the rubble. This time, however, he found her stirred to consciousness. "You must leave me," she whispered to Corvin.
And, adamantly, he responded, "No, never."
And her retort, "Corvin, you must. It is not your time."
"I will not leave you behind. I cannot do it," he replied and began working at the boulders again. The bestial sounds returned, but larger, and not just one. The gorgodon had returned, apparently with its mate. His lightsaber came to his hand again, he had meant what he said.
Her voice broke through, "Corvin, no. You must go," but he didn't. They fell on him and he fell in turn. His head hit the ground, his eyes turned toward his trapped Master. All he could see was the sadness in them. This was not what she had desired, it was never what she had desired. She had tried to prevent it, but he had not heeded her. Blackness overtook him, his last thoughts of failing his master.
He came to, lying on the floor of the crystal cave. There was no rubble, no gorgodons, no Master Su. He frowned. Somehow, he believed he had failed in some fundamental fashion. He had been brave, he had been true, but he had disobeyed his Master. He began to understand. His feelings toward her had clouded his judgment. He was embarrassed. He slowly got to his feet and looked around. There, off to his right, something called. He walked over and he saw it, a tiny piece of light. He reached out to it and took hold, a small piece of crystal. It felt warm and it felt right. He took it with him, retracing his steps back to the surface.
Coming out, he found Master Su, sitting on the ground waiting patiently. She rose up and smiled for him. He opened his mouth to speak, but she lifted a staying hand, saying, "No. What you saw was for you and you alone. Let us go."

What was my master like?
Master Su was something of a Peacekeeper. She strove to find peaceful settlements, even with the Sith. In the end this proved her undoing.
Her name was Suniki Su. She was a human, Corellian, aged 39 at her death. Corvin were there.
In the heat of the battle for a small, now unimportant, world called Tressin VI, you faced down a battalion of Sith soldiers, heavily armed, poorly trained grunts. They fought for their lives because to fail was to die at the hands of their own commanders. They died anyway.
She was masterful, and Corvin knew she was protecting him, but somehow, she was everywhere. Everywhere there was danger, she was, turning the tide. The Republic soldiers with them were in awe. So was he, before he put aside that moment of emotion.
And then the real Sith arrived. Master Su sensed him before Corvin did. The real prize: Lord Bibulus, apprentice to Darth Vengis, a member of the Dark Council. A scar faced boy, barely older than Corvin. But so fast. He fell on Corvin before he could react.
All of his training screamed in his mind at once, but the order was jumbled. Fear seized him. Where was the Force? And then she was there, preventing the blow Bibulus intended to be Corvin's end. Her green saber sizzled against his blood red.
She looked at Corvin then. She smiled, wanly, and he saw goodbye in her brown eyes.
"Run," she told him. "This isn't for you. Not yet." She pushed him on to his feet with a flick of the Force, then turned to face her destiny.
----------------------------------
Following Master Su's death (1 year pre-game start), Corvin became single-minded in trying to track down those responsible (or even involved) in her death. In this single-minded devotion, bad things happened, a little here and a little there, but it culminated in a conflict with some unintended, innocent casualties (civilians, children, perhaps). He knew things had gone too far, and that Master Su would never have approved of what had happened, or even of the long sequence of events leading up to what happened. He swore to live his life differently going forward, that he would live a life that Master Su would have lived had she survived, a life that she would have approved and been proud of. He has, since then, tried to embrace the intellectual and spiritual side of wielding a lightsaber in addition to the martial.
