Background

A slave to the Hutts since childhood, Dryngo's speed and athleticism marked him out for the fighting pits, where he immediately excelled in unarmed combat. Little more than a savage beast, he would toy with his opponents until the crowd was at a fever pitch, then despatch them with his claws. He was sufficiently popular that the arena was lined with leafless trees and other props which added to the spectacle, from which he would climb and leap.

That was until he faced off against Sentuke Migami, a bald, greying human half his size. Over the next half an hour, amusement was replaced by consternation, then frustration, embarrassment and finally humiliation as he fruitlessly tried to land a blow on the little man, while in turn being tripped, thrown and struck with pieces of the arena he had smashed in his desperation. The crowd couldn't believe what they had seen - their initial bellowing bloodlust for their Green Nikto fan favourite was replaced by laughter, then mighty cheers for the human underdog. Out of time, the match ended in stalemate and the pit fighters were led back to their neighbouring cages.

Over a period of weeks, there were rematches, each more extraordinary than the last as Dryngo tried everything he knew, only to be effortlessly repelled by the odd little man. At nights, Dryngo's initial scorn towards Sentuke melted away as he came to respect him, then befriend him, and finally accepted him as a mentor.

The little man eventually revealed he had been a monk in a monastery sacked by Hutt forces - his efforts to defend it with nothing more than his fists had saved his life, and he was spared for the pits. He began teaching Dryngo the ways of his order, opening Dryngo's eyes to a universe with layers of nuance he had never considered before; it had always been a harsh kill-or-be-killed fight for survival, and then acclaim, to him. He learned meditation, and disbelievingly was told he could manipulate objects, including himself, with nothing more than his mind. It did explain why the little human could punch so hard!

Realising their arena rivalry would have to end soon in one dying, they plotted to escape. Sentuke somehow took the key from a complacent guard, released his acolyte, and both slipped away into the night. They booked passage with a shady freighter captain, but a Hutt bounty hunter ambushed them, and Sentuke gave up his seat to draw the hired gun away. Dryngo hasn't seen him since.

Since his escape, he has tried to lay low, finding grunt work that made use of his skills in the grey areas of Imperial law in the Outer Rim, but also offered him time to meditate in peace in his efforts to better master the techniques his master taught him.

Motivation

Pride/Arrogance: His life as a pit fighter taught him not just how to win, but win with style. Being top dog in his arena for so long made him complacent and sloppy, until his encounters with Sentuke Migami.
