Background

Being stronger and more resilient than the standard Jawa, Rillo often found himself in the role of enforcer or advanced scout. It was this later role that he was filling on the fateful day his clan was destroyed. He had made his way up into the cliffs above where the crawler was stopped. From there he was working his way up to the top of the ridge-line to get a commanding view of the area.

Rillo was nearly two clicks from the crawler when he heard the rumbling. It was coming from behind him, back the way he had come. Turning to look, he saw dark smoke billowing up from the direction of the crawler. When he finally made it to a vantage point to see the source of the smoke, the macrobinoculars revealed a horrific scene.

The crawler was the source of the smoke, its treads blasted to uselessness. Huddled in front of the crawler were most of his clan, other members scattered around the ground, un-moving. Imperial troops were detaining his clan, while others led Banthas around the site. He was too far to reach them, and too far to tell clearly what was going on even with the macrobinoculars. The clan elders seemed to be being questioned by a grey uniformed human flanked by Sand Troopers. The matriarch was gesticulating wildly in a pleading manner. With a nod from the uniformed man, one of the Sand Troopers shot the matriarch dead where she stood.

As the Sand Troopers proceeded to shoot the elders one at a time, chaos broke out. The Jawas were fleeing in all directions. The rest of the Imperial forces proceeded to open fire on the fleeing Jawas, almost lazily. The Jawas were being used for target practice as they fled. Once all the Jawas were dead, the Imperials with the Banthas led them through the carnage, over the corpses of Rillo's clan, and placed gaffi sticks randomly through the area. Once they had finished, the Imperials returned to their transport, and left the Banthas to wander.

Rillo searched for answers to what happened to cause the destruction of his clan. When he was finally able to get the answers to his questions, his mind filled with rage. He lashed out and killed the Sand Trooper that was being interrogated. They were not so tough without their armor and bound to a chair. As he pulled his knife from the trooper's neck, he was clubbed from behind by the underworld lackey who had brought the trooper to Rillo.

When Rillo regained consciousness, he was locked in the small room they had used for the interrogation. The corpse of the Sand Trooper was still in the chair, with the trooper's gear piled in the corner. Rillo could here a heated conversation coming from the other side of the door, and the modulated voices of other troopers over their speakers. Rillo had little time to try to escape. He grabbed the trooper's utility belt and slung it over his shoulder like a baldric. He also grabbed the trooper's heavy rifle. It was longer than Rillo was tall, but it was his only option.

After a brief examination of the controls, Rillo aimed the rifle towards the back wall of the room. After a burst of blaster bolts from the weapon, there was a hole in the back wall out to the alley big enough for Rillo to escape through. He was out the hole into the alley as the Imperials were entering the room. Blaster fire erupted behind him as he made his escape into the darkened alley. Rillo had enough presence of mind to take the rifle with him

Motivation

Until Rillo can make things right with the criminal underworld of Mos Eisley, he needs to make himself scarce. He needs travel off Tatooine and a way to make a living until he can find a way to pay back his debts.

Obligations

Favor: (x obligation) Trying to find out what happened to his clan and why the Imperials attacked them, Rillo reached out where ever he could for answers. In the criminal underworld of Mos Eisley, he found a contact willing to get him a chance to interrogate one of the Sand Troopers involved for a favor.

Betrayal: (10 obligation) When Rillo found out his clan was slaughtered; because of some stolen droids that they had sold some moisture farmers, he became enraged and attacked the captive Sand Trooper that had just revealed the information. Before the underworld enforcers could stop him, Rillo killed the Sand Trooper with the hidden knife he had brought into the interrogation room. Now the underworld enforcers had an "Imperial entanglement" that they did not want, Rillo had betrayed the terms of the arrangement.
