Background

Twenty years ago, a Jedi ship on a mission of gathering young force sensitives in the Pacanth Reach of the Outer Rim. Officially, they did not have the right to be there since most of the planets in the sector did not belong to the Republic, but not all of the Jedi were as law-abiding as their Corruscant-dwelling brethren. When a ship brought new younglings to the Temple, few questions were asked and records could always be forged. Extremely young Lyn, barely at an age of two was on that ship. After manifesting Force powers spontaneously and causing havoc with an outburst of energy numerous times, Lyn's parents, Twi'lek colonists on a remote planet reluctantly agreed to give little Lyn away after the Jedi promised they would be able to see their daughter sometimes and she'd be taught how not to be a danger to herself and others.
But, unfortunately or perhaps luckily, Lyn's fate wasn't to become a Jedi; after a serious malfunction, the Jedi ship crash landed on a planet called Bunduki, home of Followers of Palawa, a reclusive group of monks, inventors of the fearsome martial art Teras Kasi.
The monks formed a search and rescue party, and to their surprise did find a survivor in the wreckage. Little Lyn. Jedi rescue mission on a Judicials warship arrived soon after. Followers of Palawa didn't forget old grudges. While they could not prevent their old enemies from descending to the planet by force, they did what they could to at least hurt the plans of the Jedi, they denied another them a recruit who potentially could become a powerful member of their ranks.
They hid Lyn from the search party, which left after a few days of searching.

Years passed. Lyn proved to be as much of a burden as she was an asset. She was gifted in the ways of the Force, intuitively understanding the principles and how to apply them. She progressed through the trainee ranks rapidly and everything would have been great, but she had certain... oddities in her behaviour to which the monks didn't respond well.
She was a free spirit at heart. She questioned everything she was told, challenging the beliefs and ideas of her mentors. Where others were obedient, Lyn was not, preferring to understand rationale behind decisions and rules before agreeing to follow them. Where others learned by repetition, Lyn experimented and invented new ways of applying knowledge, new ways that sometimes surprised even her mentors.
More often than not, Lyn found ways to avoid tasks and duties she didn't want, preferring to do what she truly loved. Martial arts and reading. Any free time she had, she could be found either reading, performing kata or meditating. In particular, she loved reading adventure novels and historical records, imagining herself in place of heroes, both historical and fictional. What else could she do on a remote planet without even HoloNet relays to access the news and information from the big galaxy?
The monks didn't take her behaviour well, often berating and punishing her for yet another misdeed. Lyn never complained, gladly accepting punishments, living by the unspoken rule of "better say sorry than ask for permission"...
She loved her mentors and considered them a family she never had.

One day, her life changed in an instant. Having access to Followers of Palawa historical records, by accident, Lyn stumbled upon the records of how she was found. She read about the Jedi ship that was carrying her and crashed, and confronted the monks about the details of the event. The monks were lying to her all her life, she discovered. She wasn't an orphan that was left on their doorstep. They denied her of her destiny to be a Jedi!
Anger turned to determination. Lyn decided to seek out the Jedi and join them. However, she couldn't stay angry for long at anyone, the monks who raised her and were her family held a special place in her heart.
The monks told her of Arden Lyn and Legions of Lettow, they told her how for thousands of years the Jedi zealously eradicated any belief, any ideas that were different from theirs. That was the reason Followers of Palawa didn't travel much away from their planet. The Jedi allowed their existence as long as they didn't pose a threat to their political power and ideological dominance.
From the point of view of Followers of Palawa, they saved Lyn from a grim fate of becoming a zealot, a fanatic enforcing the ideology of the Jedi.
Lyn on the other hand, didn't believe in such stories. Well, she did believe that in the past the Jedi were fanatics, but having read records of more recent Jedi peacekeeping and diplomatic efforts, Lyn found it hard to believe that the Jedi didn't change after so many years. Especially, she believed, the Ruusan Reforms should have changed the Jedi Order drastically, shifting their warlike mentality into more diplomacy oriented mindset.

Despite the monks efforts to convince Lyn to stay, she decided it was time to see the galaxy. Or so she told the monks. In fact, frustrated by their closed-mindedness about the Jedi, Lyn decided that she should try and mend the gap between Followers of Palawa and the Jedi Order. Fascinated by the descriptions of the Jedi deeds, she wished for an open exchange of ideas between their orders, pretty sure that the monks could learn many things from the Jedi, and perhaps the Jedi could learn a thing or two from the Followers of Palawa.
So, after a few weeks of frustration and disagreements, Lyn took some credits from the Followers coffers and boarded a courier ship - the only regular transport that came to Bunduki to bring supplies and news.
She was heading to Corruscant, to meet the Jedi.

Motivation

Ambition - Wanderlust/Novelty
------------------------------------------
After growing up on remote and isolated world, fueled by her curiosity, Lyn yearns to experience the galaxy, to discover, to explore, to learn.
Discovering accidentally that she was destined to become a Jedi, she leaves the Followers of Palawa to learn about the Jedi, gain their trust and perhaps make peace between the monks and the Jedi.

Morality

Idealism - Naivety
------------------------
Lyn grew up reading adventure novels and ancient chronicles preserved by the monks of the Followers of Palawa. She is idealistic and believes in good and evil; from the youngest years, her dream was to help the downtrodden, fight injustice and tyranny.

Description

Other Notes

Obligation
Debt (10): Lyn feels she owes Followers of Palawa a debt of honor for saving and raising her. She feels obliged to repay that debt by bringing Followers of Palawa and the Jedi together, thinking that the Jedi cannot be dogmatic evil fanatics the Followers of Palawa consider them to be. She must learn more about the Jedi and gain their trust to try and make peace between the monks and the Jedi Order
Rule Breaker (No Disintegrations rule book) (10): Lyn has always been a free spirit. She never took seriously Followers of Palawa code, often wandering off to explore something instead of attending lessons or fighting practices. More often than not she did only what she truly wanted to do, finding ways to avoid unwanted responsibilities and duties.
This shaped her personality to some extent; she would agree to do only what she thinks is right and would flatly refuse or avoid doing what she thinks is wrong or unnecessary.
