After finishing her degree, she joined the Coruscant Defense Navy as a career officer, under her father's recommendation. Her father Fell out of favor a few months earlier and was replaced by an Ex Naval Officer Zohuk Botoya. Her father saw the political influence that could be gained from military service, and Zohuk never even had to fire a blaster.

During her service at the Coruscant Defense Navy, her duties were very unassuming.
As a junior officer on a cruiser, her job was mainly paperwork and budget allocations while the cruiser was going through a boring escort mission for a political VIP or an uneventful patrol.

When the Senate declared on creating the GAR navy, the Coruscant Defense Navy was placed at its organizational center and many of their officers were sent around the galaxy due to their valuable experience (which in that time, any experience with capital ships was valuable)
