Upgrade Effect
N/A Grants Ronei the ability to catch glimpses of the future as it pertains to her. Cannot be consciously used, but can happen during day or night.

Background

Var'on'eirmi (Ronei) is the daughter of a Chiss couple who decided to travel the stars as merchants. They had her during their travels, and she fell in love with traveling along with them. She learned of her home planet and culture through her parents' stories and lessons, but she never learned where it was; they always told her they would simply take her home.

When Ronei was 9, they stopped on the planet Mirial to deliver some goods as well as trade with the locals. Ronei quickly befriended the village head's daughter, Alaia, and they often were found together while the adults were conducting business. On one of these days, a newly appointed captain of the Imperial Army, Alec Wein, had been ordered to go to Mirial in search of rebel Pantorans on the planet. Captain Alec accused Ronei's parents of being the escaped rebels and wouldn't listen when they tried explaining they were Chiss, not Pantoran. He had them executed on the spot and left with their heads.

Alaia's parents, who had been meeting with the Chiss couple at the time, had to collect what was left of their belongings and took it to Ronei. After revealing the shocking truth of her parents' death, they offer to care for her until she reaches adult age according to their customs. Even though Ronei was considered nearing adulthood by Chiss standards, she still had a long way to go by Mirialan customs. She finally relented after many concerned conversations with them, and eventually became Alaia's 'adopted' sister.

Ronei learns the Mirialan culture and even adopts some of their customs, such as the tattoos. As she grows older, her "instincts" help her out in more than one occasion, earning her a few generous awards in her new home. What she does not realize but instinctively cultivates is her special ability, the "Third Sight" in Chiss culture, Precognition. This ability gives her brief glimpses into the future as long as it relates to herself. She mostly gets glimpses when asleep, but she can occasionally get them when awake, too.

She develops mechanical skills among the Mirialans in order to prove her usefulness as well as gain a way to earn herself some money, since one day, she wants to take revenge on Captain Alec Wein and return to her homeland. On her 18th birthday, she has a dream of meeting a group of people traveling the stars. The location looks vaguely like one from when she was little; her parents had taken her to that town when they had been traveling.

Now that she is old enough, she takes off to this world. Once there, she makes her living as a mechanic tinkering with and building useful items while scouring for clues on not only Captain Alec Wein, but also these mysterious people showing up in her dreams. She works there for three years, honing her skills and waiting for her prospective meeting with her fate.

Motivation

- To find her parents' murderer, Captain Alec Wein, to exact revenge
- To return to her home planet one day

Obligations

- DUTY - Tech Procurement: There is no more prolific or productive time for technological developments than during a war, and this one is no exception. This Player Character sees the true opportunity for Alliance victory in the hands of scientists, engineers, and technicians. Not only can they get the most performance from existing machines and resources, but they can design and develop new ships, weapons, medical techniques, and equipment that can provide the vital edge necessary to survive against the Empire's might. The way this PC sees it, stealing the best developments of the Empire is a crucial way to even the odds.

- Extra obligation for XP (debt, the place she is renting for her engineering work). Brings starting total to 110XP.
~ Backstory on the 'debt': Ronei arrived at the starter world and wanted to open a shop with her new engineering skills since she was considered so talented on Mirial. She found a loaner and had it all financed, and has been paying it back in installments since she started. She hasn't found anything wrong with the loaner yet, but she doesn't know that he works for the Hutts.
