Ny'len Vane, a thirty year old Byss native who joined the republic as a teenager to become a covert agent. He ended up becoming a programmer instead, programming consoles for ships and stations, among other computer-based systems for the Republic Navy. While other kids grew up playing with toys, he grew up breaking down computers and programs to see how they work, hacking into holonets and eventually credit safes of the rich that were known to exploit civilians for credits.

Due to his criminal record after getting caught as a juvenile for slicing, his request to join the Intelligence Agency for the Galactic Republic was denied. After being denied his dream, stuck in his position in the Replubic Navy not seeing any action, he falsified records to become a covert agent. He trained, earned his lock breaking hand implant after losing his hand in a botched undercover detail, and even went on a few high-risk missions to stop the separtist. This went on for five years before they figured out who he really was.

They assumed he was a separatist spy, although he wasn't, they couldn't be convinenced otherwise. When they captured him for questioning, they kept him in a holding room. While he slept, an officer he doesn't recognize, who initially accused him of being a spy, entered his room without any guards and attmepted to murder him with a blade.

With Ny'len at the mercy of an angry officer's blade who is blaming him for the death of the officer's fellow soldiers, the officer thrusts the knife toward his throat. This is where things get very dicy. It is safe to say that, the officer lost the knife and that mistake cost him his life. A dead officer, blood spilled on the floor, Ny'len decides to get rid of the recordings and get out of there before they find out.

Before Ny'len could slice a security terminal to try and erase the footage, he was interrupted by a couple of guards who also saw him as a dangerous threat and was ordered to kill on sight due to the death of the officer that was seen by security over the cameras in the holding room. After the guards were disarmed and detained in the room, Ny'len took their ammo belts, gear, a pistol, and started to leave the holding area, but not until he stopped to look at the mess. The smeared sight of blood, the result of a life he took in self defense. All the years he had spent in the Republic, he has never killed anyone.

This is where Ny'len starts his life as a fugative ex-military. Although it was self defense, they believe he is a separtist spy and for that, he believes they will use that to justify his execution.

Secrets

Striving to obtain secrets and data is what excites Ny'len. He looks to use for his own purposes, either as a bargaining chip, help his crew, or to help clear his name.
