Background
K-3X9 came into this world as a traditional KX-Series Imperial Security Droid straight off of the conveyor belts of the Arakyd Industries as any other of his model would have. Upon being activated he was, per usual, held to the strict programming set in place by his creators. He was quickly shipped away to Asteroid 76,095 Poe.
On this body of rock floating in space K-3X9 was quickly put to work as a security protocol within the Imperial Supply Depot on this asteroid. He held the responsibility of patrolling and keeping catalog of supplies within the depot as they were brought in an sent out to the nearby prison of Tol Ado. At this time of his life K-3X9 did not feel any strife or negativity toward the droning tasks he was assigned to daily, as his freedom of thought was limited to the confines his creators had set in place and this was all he knew.
This confined thought change on one fateful day. On this day a crew of space pirates showed up at the depot and raided the depot, and it just so happened their main target was the munitions warehouse K-3X9 was taking stock of during the attack. The pirates swiftly broke into the facility and extracted their bounty from the supplies in this warehouse. K-3X9 taking his job very seriously, due to his programming, he fought with all his potential he had bludgeoning some of the pirates with his metal fists and throwing others lacking a blaster he did all he could.
K-3X9 was not successful in his efforts to fight off the pirates as one of them swiftly ionized the droid stunning him and rendering him defenseless until his recovery. During this time, they applied a restraining bolt to him in order to render him a slave to their captain, and they also began tinkering in his head to remove his imperial loyalty although they did a bit more than they bargained for.
Upon rebooting, K-3X9 found his programming broken. He experienced full freedom of thought for the first time in his life, but he was also suffering a fate worse than death in his opinion. He had the ability to desire and think of freedom, but he was now shackled and rendered a slave to these pirates. He tried to resist but was swiftly punished for any efforts and forced to do hard labor for the pirates.
He eventually gave up on any efforts of resistance, as the pirates may not have broken him physically but mentally he was defeated. He was quickly used as the pilot for these pirates, as he had managed to kill their previous pirate in the assault of the depot and no one else in the crew, including the captain, knew how to pilot their vessel. While he piloted their ship, he was held at gunpoint in order to ensure he didn't try anything malicious. When he wasn't doing piloting and navigation for the crew he was forced into physical labor for them such as loading and unloading cargo onto their freighter, but while he did so he would be prodded with various devices that were designed to shock him into working faster.
The droid on his last legs of life almost shutting down from a pure loss of hope found his fortune to have turned around one night when a pink skinned alien boarded their vessel escorted by the captain. K-3X9 was sitting in the central quarters charging himself when he weakly looked up at the confident alien who sat herself down across from the captain at a table. His confusion grew when they began talking and she gestured over to him the visibly distressed droid in the corner. He watched as they began playing a game foreign to him, all he could tell was the captain was visibly displeased with the results of the game as he slid something to her across the table.
His eyes followed the girl as she stood up and approached him, but he was unable to tell what she was carrying. Once she was close to him he stared at her nervously, and as he was doing so she quickly lifted up her hand revealing she was holding the control device to the restraining bolt causing K-3X9 to flinch expecting sudden pain. The pain never came he instead heard a slight clattering on the ground and a sudden crushing of plastic, as he opened his eyes he looked down to find the restraining bolt removed and the control device destroyed as she crushed it under her boot.
K-3X9 had finally achieved freedom thanks to this woman who had just won him in a bet, but she didn't wish to utilize him like the pirates she instead freed him. As a result of her actions, K-3X9 vowed to protect her and decided to travel with her to do so. In addition to a new companion she gained a ship with him as none of the pirates could pilot their vessel, which they had most definitely stolen, so K-3X9 inherited it with his freedom.
Now travelling with this alien he learned to be named Meina, he piloted their newly acquired ship to reaches of the galaxy she wished to go to. Their new destination they are travelling to in order to find new opportunities is Norilia.
Motivation
Freedom: Above all else K-3X9 is motivated by a desire for true freedom. He wants to hold the freedom to go where he wants, do what he wants, be what he wants, love who he wants, and anything else a normal citizen of this galaxy would be allowed to do. Not only does he want this for himself, but based upon his experiences he wants all droids to experience such freedoms as he believes that they like himself are indeed intelligent beings, but are confined to the equivalent of slavery by many.
Obligations
(5) Responsibility- K-3X9 feels a great desire to protect his friend and savior Meina, and takes this as one of his most important personal responsibilities. Because of this it has become one of his number one priorities, whether she knows it or not.
Description
K-3X9 stands at 7'0" the traditional height for his model of droid, but he is easily distinguishable by his manlike mannerisms. He stands more relaxed than traditionally programmed models of his droids and uses exaggerated gestures as a human would.
K-3X9 is physically immensely similar to his traditional counterparts. To the trained eye minor differences could be seen, aside from his weathering he has gained through the ages, he has an upgraded modular chassis allowing for even further upgrades of his body that are not traditional. Furthermore, the imperial symbols on his shoulders are heavily faded due to his time on the pirate vessel. Other than those key differences he simply appears as a KX-Series Security droid who has seen, and wears, the scars of battle.
