Background
Manufactured by Holowan Laboratories, as with all other genuine IG-series assassin and bodyguard droids, IG-69 was a part of a bulk order of 10 bodyguard droids by a small-time crime lord on Ryloth. As the crime lord's power and influence diminished, he was forced to sell his bodyguard attachment to individual sellers in an auction before fleeing from his competitors; to IG-69's knowledge, his original owner is still out there, somewhere. His new buyer was Rab Traut, a human smuggler who had recently lost a hand, with no use for a bodyguard droid. He had an aptitude for programming and re-purposed IG-69 for primarily space navigation, which he could no longer manage alone, retaining only a few of IG-69's original combat characteristics. His buyer also made IG-69's mind entirely independent, treating him as an equal with no need for restraining bolts and giving them a masculine programming compliment. Unfortunately, while attempting to flee an Imperial quarantine with illicit goods on Cato Neimoidia, he and his new partner were shot down by an ion cannon and crashed in a canyon. Rab died in the crash and IG-69 entered sleep mode to commence emergency diagnostics and repairs. When the Imperial troops reached the crash site, they determined that Rab was deceased and the droid was decommissioned. The contraband was taken and destroyed and the stormtroopers left the crash site. Hours later, IG-69's diagnostic check was complete and he was fully functional again. After a few days of repairs, IG-69 was able to make the ship functional again and leave the planet, no longer carrying illicit materials. IG-69 returned to the only planet he had any familiarity with, Ryloth, in the outer rim to further explore his independence.
Motivation
Comrades - IG-69, grateful for the freedom he has been afforded, is extremely dedicated to his allies and comrades and, in some cases, would not necessarily think twice about laying down his life for them.
Obligations
Obsession
As he has been programmed that way, IG-69 derives the most "pleasure" from operating at maximum efficiency. If he is not in control of some form of transport, be it planetary or space, for too long he will begin to malfunction.
Responsibility
The illegal cargo which he and his former partner Rab were trying to smuggle off Cato Neimoidia were actually vital medical supplies stolen from the Empire and intended for delivery to an orphanage where Rab grew up on Savareen. As they were stopped and failed in this mission, IG-69 feels a great sense of responsibility to fulfill Rab's wishes by improving the situation of some children wherever he can.
Description
A standard build of the IG-series droids, IG-69 was anodized in red by his first owner to set he and his 9 counterparts aside from other IG-series droids in the region. Additionally, reinforced steel and thermal resistant plates are noticeably present. IG-69 stands at 2.1m tall.
