Background
Jodo was born and raised in the city slums of Nar Shaddaa. He grew up watching his Mother (Talina), Father (Nomar), and two older Sisters (Skye & Lila) toil under the vicious rule of their Hutt overlords as indentured servants. While the Sarn family was not as low on the totem pole as the slaves, it was not much better. With little to no money to his name, young Jodo spent his time hanging around the spaceport cantinas where he'd work to clean tables. There he'd listen with wide eyes to pirates, smugglers, bounty hunters, and all sorts of other spacers tell stories of their travels. Jodo became enamored with the lives of these free men and women whom he could only watch as they came and went through his home as they wished while he remained trapped. That was until he couldn't stand watching any longer. When Jodo was roughly 17 he stuck out and attempted to steal the ship of a smuggler who worked for Mabesh the Hutt and blast away from Nar Shaddaa as quickly as he could. Of course it's never that easy and Jodo was rather quickly caught by the goons of Mabesh, the very Hutt who owned the contract binding his family to servitude. If this had been any other ship Jodo would have been enslaved or even executed for stealing a ship that technically belonged to Mabesh himself. However in a twist of fate Jodo was able to stumble across a hidden cargo stash while scrambling to find a hiding spot, the cache was packed with multiple crates of high quality drugs. The kicker was it turns out these drugs were from Mabesh's personal horde reserved for him and his favorite servants, the ship’s owner had been stealing the drugs and selling them for his own profit behind the Hutts back.
Jodo wasn't skilled in many areas during these days but one thing he certainly could do and that was spin a tale, actually some would say that remains his only real skill to this day. He was able to convince Mabesh and his goons that Jodo learned the smuggler was double crossing the Hutt at the last minute and he took it upon himself to put an end to it before he could get off world. Jodo had only taken the the ship so he could deliver it back to its rightful owner Mabesh himself. Weather the the Hutt believed the story or just enjoyed Jodo’s moxie is up for debate, whatever it was Jodo was able to weasel his way out of retribution. In fact Mabesh rewarded young Jodo by releasing him from his servant contract and awarding him the position previously held by the thieving smuggler. Allowing Jodo to use Mabesh's ship to run the Hutts contraband for him. While Jodo was still working under Mabesh, it was now as an employee, not a servant.
Jodo now hopes to earn enough credits and favor to be able to gain freedom for his entire family.
Motivation
Obligations
Family(5): While Jodo can often seem narcissistic and carefree the truth is he only first became involved in the galactic underworld to take care of his family. It has been nearly five years since Jodo shared their status as servant but he has not forgotten their plight. For now Jodo keeps searching the big score that will allow him to finally purchase his families freedom from the wicked Mabesh the Hutt.
Servitude(5, +1000 credits): Jodo's career as a smuggler began when Mabesh took him into his service. It was Mabesh's men who taught Jodo the ropes, it was Mabesh's ship he used to run cargo, and it was Mabesh who gave him the majority of his assignments. In the five years Jodo has worked under Mabesh he has earned himself a notable degree of independence, but he is far from true freedom. Mabesh could come calling on him and he'd have little choice in the matter and Jodo must routinely render a significant portion of his profit keeping him in a near perpetual state of living from job to job.
