Lonara was born on Iridonia but doesn't remember his clan, though he bears their tattoos. He was orphaned at an extremely young age, and later adopted by a Corellian couple; he grew up on Corellia, which was particularly rough for a non-human in the era of the Empire. Though his adoptive parents were kind, Lonara failed to relate to them or thrive under the circumstances. He preferred to explore the streets of Tyrena, his home city, where he fell in with the criminal element. Eventually he was taken under the wing of a man by the name of Ekost Effiwox, a mysterious human bounty hunter and occasional ranger who taught him the ropes of tracking quarry, animals, sentient, or otherwise. Lonara became a bounty hunter under Ekost's tutelage, and eventually the two parted on amicable terms with Lonara decided to strike it on his own. Ekost gave him a hand-me-down ship, the HWK-290 known as "River Runner," and the rest is history.

Lonara is mostly motivated by stability, by means of wealth. He doesn't want to be a bounty hunter forever, and hopes that he can save enough money to eventually start a business as a paid hunting guide, doing so however will first require amassing a significant number of credits and clearing his name so that the Empire is no longer hunting him down for his alleged crimes. He hopes to eventually move to Talus, and start his business there, hopefully attracting off-world big spenders.

Lonara Kartona has a bounty on his head for allegedly stealing a Sentinel Class Imperial shuttle. While Lonara did in fact not actually commit this crime, he was framed for it by a rival bounty hunter in order to push him out of the running for a particularly lucrative, once-in-a-lifetime bounty that the up and coming Kartona was right on the verge of having been able to collect on. As a result, Lonara's life would almost certainly be forfeit if he was to be taken in by the Empire; limiting his employment and travel options significantly, as his IPKC (Imperial Peace-Keeping Certificate) has been canceled pending his potential arrest.

An Iridonian Zabrak of average height, weight, and physique. His skin is pale, and he has long brown hair in addition to his horns, his eyes are dark red. His face bears crimson tattoos that connect him to his home clan on Iridonia, he has had these since infancy and has had them touched up in adulthood, although he has no real connection to his family.
