Varan was born on Lira San to a member of the Lasat High Honor Guard who fought in the Clone Wars for the Republic. Varan's father would later die to the very same troops he fought alongside in the Lasat Genocide. Varan watched his was able to recover his father's Bo-Rifle before fleeing to planet for the outer rim. Varan hid from the empire on planets beyond their reach, and became a mercenary for the highest bidder. Recently on a job Varan encounter another Lasat who convicted him about his failure to live up to his species code of honor. Varan would leave his mercenary company to join the rebellion and finish the fight against the Empire.

Honor: The Player Character has a code of honor by which he lives, derived either from personal ethics or the culture from which he hails. He sees the Empire as the antithesis of everything he stands for, and he will fight it to the end.

Combat Victory: The Player Character is driven to show that the Alliance can hold its own against Imperial forces in any troop vs. troop engagement. He wants to engage the Empire's military—their best, whenever possible—and provide more victories for the Alliance to tout to the galaxy as proof it can ultimately win the war. This means daring raids, excellent tactics, and acquiring the best firepower possible.
