Background
"Doc", as they have come to be known, was an IG series assassin droid sent after a member of Black Sun on Ord Mantell. They were unsuccessful in their mission, their body disabled and programming corrupted. Members of the syndicate, sensing an opportunity, reprogrammed the IG unit to serve as a medical droid, giving medical attention to whomever they requested him to. They humourously called them IG DOC, or just Doc for short.
A few months ago, the safehouse Doc had been working out of was raided by the Empire, who were taking control of the system. Since Doc was a low priority target they managed to escape. Free of the criminals (who they felt no particular loyalty to), they started a back-alley surgery on the streets of Ord Mantell for anyone who wanted medical attention without drawing the attention of the local authorities. During his time there, one of their patients was a man named Amir Metrik.
Their illegal business, however, eventually got them on the radar of local Imperial law enforcement. They decided to pack up shop and flee to the Outer Rim, figuring that the further from the Empire they get the better.
Doc had to bribe an Imperial official to look the other way, using nearly all the credits they had saved up to do so.
They then got in contact with a quarren smuggler named Chapos Krikorn, who knew of a refugee transport leaving the world of Ojom headed to Ifron. Doc decided it was their best chance at being able to perform medicine without interference from the Empire.
Motivation
Doc is programmed to give medical attention. To them, performing medicine is the most important thing in the galaxy. So long as they can fulfil that directive, they will be happy.
Obligations
Favour: The quarren smuggler, Chapos Krikorn got Doc to Ojom and onto the refugee transport. Unable to pay the smuggler, Doc instead agreed to owe the man a big favour in the future.
Description
IG-DOC looks like a heavily modified IG unit. They have a small tertiary arm attached to their right shoulder to assist in medical procedures. Their integral medpac is located mostly in their torso, with a few tools fitting into their arms.
Doc's movements are robotic and deliberate, their chassis's inherent precision lending itself well to delicate medical operations. However, Doc's servos needed to be replaced and some of their armour was removed to accommodate their upgrades, hence the weaker than usual brawn.
Doc's original programming was almost completely corrupted when they took on the Black Sun so they had to be programmed from scratch, losing their original aiming and tracking software.
