Background
Another in a long line of diplomats, Tegas had spent most of his life in politics, largely concerned with planetside dealings between factions and cities on Caamas. The Caamasi are a peaceful people, but they also have strong opinions, and infallibly long memories, which can lead to some disputes, though these are a far cry from the arguments you would find on other planets around the galaxy. He had always had a slight edge at finding just the right way to placate someone, always seemingly able to sense their mood. This made him an excellent diplomat, but also somewhat curious at what else he might be capable of.
Then the Clone Wars began, and he had no time left for idle fascination or study. Instead, he split his time between local matters and bringing aid to those peoples most affected by the war. Even the seemingly infinite patience and kindness of the Caamasi crumbles a bit before the atrocities of war, and Tegas occasionally felt hatred boiling up in him directed at the authors of so much death and destruction, but not at the Jedi--he knew, as nearly everyone on Caamas knew, that the Jedi were arbiters of peace and justice, not warmongers or usurpers. Thus, when the war concluded and the Jedi were presented as traitorous villains, he spent some time petitioning against such slander, and trying, in vain, to seek out any remaining Jedi Knights who might be in need of assistance in such dark times, but he didn't have the mind for that sort of intrigue and after a while, tried to settle back into the calmness of post-war daily life back home. But that didn't last long...
Tegas was offworld at the time of the bombardment, but everyone he knew and was close to in the galaxy was caught in the conflagration, and it took a great toll on him. Not knowing what else to do with himself, Tegas took to helping those displaced by the disaster, relocating families, helping with charities and seeking aid, but his knowledge of how the Jedi were scapegoated at the conclusion of the war, led him to believe the new government may have been behind his homeworld's destruction, and that festered like an open wound.
He was himself displaced for years. His outspoken denouncements of the Empire eventually drew unwanted attention, and he found himself having to go into hiding as the much exalted Jedi had done (he hoped). Then, one day while moving from one anonymous fringe world to the next, trying to help where he may, yet trying to stay under the Imperial radar, Tegas finally found himself caught by a mysterious figure in black and hauled off to an Imperial shuttle bound for who knows where...
