Background
Possibru, or "Bru", grew up on the Mid-Rim world of Malastare. Though he possessed an affinity for piloting and racing like most Dugs, he found himself far more interested in the vehicles themselves. Over several years of participating in Malastare's rough-and-tumble world of underground street racing, he developed an eye for which vehicles would do well - and which wouldn't.
His thirst to invent drove him into a career as a technician. Post-education, he obtained a position as a junior repair tech on a commercial freighter. This brief stint of regular employment ended when he insulted the work of his seniors by pointing out design flaws in their work. In retribution, he found himself unceremoniously left behind on the planet of Sluis Van when they departed without him aboard.
Bru worked odd mechanic jobs to make ends meet, gradually gaining a reputation as both repair technician and designer. His skills caught the attention of an Imperial Baron, Angriff von Wolven. Recognizing the limitations of the AT-ST and AT-AT craft, von Wolven desired a highly stable, yet versatile craft for military oversight among the diverse terrain of the Outer Rim. Bru's craft concept - a walker craft that could transform from mobile assault carrier to upright artillery mech and back again - caught von Wolven's imagination. The Baron ultimately hired Bru and brought him to an Imperial assault vehicle factory to create a prototype, giving him a wide array of tools to work with. Now finally able to design, build, and test to his heart's content, Bru set to work.
During the design and creation of the AT-TK prototype, Bru became familiar with the Baron's second in command, a Captain whose distrust of nonhumans was grounded in xenophobia. After developing internal doubts about how his creation would be used, he decided to sabotage the craft. Bru modified a power regulator to survive the initial test display, but fail shortly afterwards and cause the craft to self-destruct.
On the way to install the regulator, he found the Captain and von Wolven's best pilot already running through the full activation process for the mech; the former's xenophobia finally getting the best of him. The mech promptly exploded, killing the pilot and forcing an evacuation of the factory due to cascading damage in the test bay. Realizing that his sabotage would be quickly discovered with the part intact, he used the faulty part as a weapon and attacked the Captain with it, the outrage he displayed at his work being stolen only partially feigned.
In the chaos of the evacuation and explosion, Bru recognized how dangerously precarious his situation now was. Deciding that the activation constituted acceptance of his product and fulfillment of his agreement with von Wolven, Bru took the credits and equipment he was promised and left the facility. On the way, he drained all copies of his designs from the facility schematics databases. The sabotaged part he left near a failing power conduit, watching the part become half-vaporized before finally departing. von Wolven would later find a voice recording from Bru pinning the fulfillment of the contract and the failure of the mech on his Captain's actions.
Spending his accumulated credits to buy his way back to Sluis Van, Bru realized he needed to get beyond the immediate reach of the Empire if he wanted to be safe from any potential reprisal from von Wolven. A smuggler of unknown affiliation agreed to provide Bru and his equipment safe transport in exchange for a favor, which the desperate Bru quickly agreed to. Now finding himself back at square one even further from the galactic center, Bru is currently doing his best to keep things together on Bespin's Cloud City long enough for him to come up with a plan.
