---------------
Ping was glad to get off the transport. He had been in plenty of smelly, dank, dark, nasty places in his life, but this starship that was supposed to be hauling paying passengers somehow managed to be worse than the Imperial prison he had left so many days ago.
At least he was now finally on Mazuma, although he didn't want to think about the debt he had to go into in order to "arrange" a ticket on that barely floating cesspool.
This planet was the last known location of Captain Mokksi and his ship the Emerald Rancor, and if the good Cap'n was recruiting for crew members, then it was Ping's duty to be there. He still shuddered and tried not to think about what had happened to Captain Mokksi's brother, and how the Lieutenant had saved his life when Moff Dardano went on one of his wild rampages. He was always saddened to be reminded of the rarely mentioned massacre sometimes spoken of as the "Revenge of the Krikthasi", how so few soldiers were forced to fight so bravely against so many -- and for what?
He learned an important lesson, though -- if you cross Dardano, it may take months for retribution to make itself known to you, but it will be coming. And it will have all the right signatures and approvals on it, all the way up and down the chain of command.
But now he was on Mazuma, and it was his mission to find a place where he could get something better to eat than the slime they offered on the transport, and he figured his best shot and most cost-effective shot would be at a market near the spaceport. Then he could start to formulate plans for his next steps to locate the current whereabouts of the Emerald Rancor, and if the rumors of the recent demise of Captain Mokksi were true.
