Background
In 42 BBY, Jacen Alde is born to two nobles in the House of Alde on Alderaan. Recognized as a Force Sensitive from a young age, Jacen was sent the the Jedi Temple in 40 BBY to begin training. At the Temple, Jacen is assigned to Thranta Clan. Jacen excels through his training and was one of the best duelist in his clan under Master Drallig's tutelage. Master Drallig was quite impressed with Jacen's skill with a lightsaber, and dueled with Jacen's often, to hone his skills.
In 28 BBY, Jedi Master Gretz Droom took Jacen as his padawan. Jacen had been his padawan for 6 years at the out set of the Clone Wars. Unfortunately, during the Battle of Felucia, Master Droom was killed in action. This has left Jacen, without a master on Felucia, just trying to survive.
Motivation
Oath: Master Droom.
Jacen is the former padawan of Gretz Droom. Master Droom was killed in action during the Battle of Felucia. During the fight, Master Droom sacrificed himself to save a village from being overran by separatist forces. Master Droom's Sacrifice saved the villagers and allowed them to be evacuated. When Jacen went to join his Master, he was shooed away. Master Droom said, "Remember this, Jacen, Do what you must to protect the innocents of this war. That is the Jedi Way." Jacen took that to heart and honors his master's sacrifice by working to protect those caught in the cross fire of the clone wars.
