Nelen Vegg never knew his mother, or why she had left Lira San. Vegg's mother died shortly after he was born leaving him to be raised by his uncle, Vaglam Vegg. A large broody Lasat who often spoke of honoring the Booshan Keeraw, the way of the warrior. While repairing droids in Vaglam's small repair shop, Nelen would listen to stories about his father, Kovam, a decorated soldier who died in service of the Ashla.
Nelen was fifteen when Revan and Malek led the republic Navy to quell the invading Mandalorians, fueled by stories of honor and glory he convinced his uncle to let him join the Republic army at seventeen. In training he was a crack-shot, earning a reputation as a fine marksman Nelen was selected for sharpshooter training. It wasn't long before he was being sent to provide overarching for rescue missions, snatch and grabs, and tactical insertions of special forces squadrons.
Nelen served for nearly a full year before the cataclysmic battle of Malachore V, and shortly thereafter the destruction of Telos IV. Vegg continued to fight, first the Mandalorians, then the Sith led by these Jedi who had renounced the Ashla.
A year after the destruction of Telos IV Corporal Nelen Vegg became the first Lasat sharpshooter assigned to the Tempest Squad under special forces high command. The next few years were a mind numbing blur of fighting, not for freedom, or for those who had been lost, not even for the republic, but for the Ashla.
On one such assignment Corporal Vegg found out he was Force Sensitive. He watched in horror as a thermal detonator landed between him and Drosrur, a Zabrak medic assigned to Tempest Squad. Reacting out of pure instinct Vegg used the force to throw Dros out of the blast range, but was unable to escape himself. Vegg was left with a jagged scar from his ear to jawline, another souvenir of this tiresome conflict.
A week later Vegg was spending his downtime in a small workshop, servicing a small RMD surveillance droid while listening to the swoop rankings on the net, when he was approached by an officer of the Republic SIS. The officer informed Vegg that he had been reassigned to special tasks, specifically to an initiative given the designation "Jericho," and that he should report to Taris orbital station forthwith, and he would receive further instructions on arrival.

Honor
-Though many beings believe the concept to be terribly outdated and archaic, honor remains one of the foundations of the spirit for many who call themselves soldiers. Honor can be a source of courage, strength, and will in the face of terrible odds, allowing a soldier to stand against an implacable enemy and remain true to a cause. Many soldiers serve the alliance as a matter of honor, knowing the Empire to be founded on an utter lack of it.

Nelen enjoys watching swoop races and repairing small droids and other bits of machinery.
