Background

Born into an old military family on Glee Anselm, Viz Argid was destined for a life of combat. As far as his family assumed, this life would be found in the armed forces as all previous generations of the family had. When it was discovered early on in the boys life that he was remarkably intelligent these assumptions turned into hopes. Hopes that the boy would be the torch bearer for the whole family moving forward, that he would rise through the ranks of the True Republic command structure and rehabilitate the prestige the family had lost after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Glee Anselm had been a fiercely loyal Imperial world and their military academies had trained many of the Empire’s most effect soldiers before the rebellion ruined everything. Many great martial families on the planet had been purged by the successive regimes after the Empire dissolved, some on claims of war crimes and others simply because they were too vocal about their support of the Empire. The Argid clan luckily avoided the worst of the purges and as one short lived regime led to another they persisted and sided with who ever came out on top. However, they still carried the stain of their century old connection to the hated Empire and now they hoped that Viz would be the one to wipe it clean and return them to honour and glory.

Indeed the boy was a prodigy, consistently first in his class in every discipline and a social butterfly to boot. The boy was going places and those around him in positions of power took notice, he was soon fast tracked up the command chain and given positions that would truly test his ability. He exceeded expectations every time without fail and his future looked bright, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the age of 25 and having secured a marriage to the daughter of a powerful political dynasty on Glee Anselm.

This was all superficial however, just a façade for the world at large to keep up appearances and fulfil his role as the saviour of the clan that his parents required him to be. If anyone had dug a little deeper they would of discovered the reports of the mutilated pets and fauna, the multiple juvenile assaults from the boys time in boarding school that left a list of other promising recruits who rivalled Viz without the ability to walk or in some cases - permanent vegetative states. While his family did not hold the prestige it once did, they still had some sway and swept it all under the rug, hushing up the victims and expunging the records. They would allow the boy his…’eccentricities’ as long as he continued to excel in public and bring glory to the clan. This only continued when he entered the armed services, countless psychology evaluations that recommended that Viz be forced into therapy and be given a cocktail of anti-psychotics were ignored, the reports that determined him to have all the hallmark signs of a murderous psychopath were suppressed given Viz’s outstanding military prowess and tactical as well as strategic mindset. “No soldier is perfect but Mr Argid is damn close and the young man has enough discipline for such drawbacks not to effect his service to the Grand Army of the True Republic. This is the last time you will discuss this with me or anyone else” was the only response one particularly insistent doctor received after presenting a well researched and minutely detailed case study on Viz’s psychosis to the General in charge of the planetary sector Viz worked in.

Yes, Viz Argid was meant for great things, at least he was until the bombings. The attacks by Anselmi supremacists targeted most of the old military families across the planet in a vain attempt to start some kind of planetary civil war. Viz only avoided death by being on deployment off-world putting down rebels in the Outer Rim. Upon retuning and participating in all the required displays of loss and grief, the young man used the compassionate leave he received from the army to find and kill all those involved in the bombings as well as their extended families. He had the full yet discreet support of his superiors in this retaliation. For Viz however, it was less an act of revenge and more an excuse to kill without any rules to constrain him. Following his return to work the young man went on to marry into the powerful political family, he was given a cushy desk job in the military that would see him fast tracked to General and he began the life his family had always hoped for him. It didn’t take long however, for Viz to start to feel the itch for the kill again though, without the rules of war, without having to worry about civilians or comrades but just being able to kill and maim at will. These urges led him to question why he was continuing the charade of the honourable officer with the loving wife and child.

By 30 a new plan had formed in his mind, this life had been what his family had wanted but they were dead now and he had no obligations to them any more, why tie himself down with new obligations when he could be free.Over the space of a year Viz planned out to the finest detail a series of steps that would result in him killing his own family and a body double of himself to fake his death at the hands of Anselmi supremacists after he had secured his families inheritance as well as a very valuable selection of state secrets and salacious scraps of blackmail on the planets political elite. It was with this that the young man briefly changed his name to Oxo Kint and escaped to the core worlds where he began the first stage of his life as a bounty hunter. A job that entailed legal murder and no questions asked all over the galaxy, it was Viz’s dream job and finally he didn’t need to pretend to be the social butterfly any more, he could finally be the real horrible asshole that he had always been on the inside. During one of his guild jobs Viz was grouped with 3 other newer hunters who had no clue what they were doing. Often getting in his way they nearly got themselves killed when they pursued the target despite Viz telling them it was a trap. It was Viz who had to go full out to save the 3 of them and finish the job, losing half of one of his tentacles in the process. It was then that he had the sudden urge to kill them himself until one of them suggested that they all worked so well together they should become a permanent team and use the money from bigger jobs to get a good ship that he could get at a discount, then another one chimed in about how she could them a select stock of arms from a black market contact at cost and the last guy added that his family were armourers who could fit them with custom armour.

Seeing an opportunity Viz quickly switched back to his old charming self and told them of his military experience and how he could provide some of his ‘pension’ to keep them going until the big job came in and in the mean time he would train them. Less than 2 months later and after completing more jobs together the new ‘crew’ were registered with the guild as a group, had a new ship full of weapons for each of their specialities and they were all wearing custom armour and their side arms as Viz brought them to a bar which he frequented to celebrate the official start of their hunting group. The man had taken to the drink since leaving Glee Anselm and found its effects of dulling his ever planning mind to be quite a nice change of pace which allowed him to not obsess about doing everything perfectly. After a few rounds Viz slipped away from the inebriated party who were not regular drinkers like him. It wasn’t until the next evening when they all work up with hangovers that they discovered the man they knew as Oxo Kint was gone…along with their ship and all their money from the last job. On top of this they got a call from the guild informing them that they were no longer members as the guild had received the message from their ‘group leader’ now calling himself Viz Argid several hours earlier that the whole team was leaving the Guild before he pulled out his penis and slapped it against the screen to end the message.

Finally completely free Viz started going by his real name again and dropped the last vestiges of his ‘sociable façade’, becoming truly asocial and an insufferable asshole to be around. He also began to drink more heavily to further dull his racing mind as he began to enjoy his life for the first time through his journey around the galaxy taking whatever job was going and killing who ever he wanted whether he was hired to or not. One such job involved the Imperial Remnant; some mid-level bureaucrat wanted Viz to kill his boss before he could present some new prototype to his superiors so the bureaucrat could take his place and get the credit. Viz happily took the job, glad to have the chance to take on what he wrongly assumed was a military target and completely ignoring the clients request to be subtle and make it look like an accident. Tracking the target to a planet in the Outer Rim Viz went on a bender waiting for the target to show up at the spot Viz planned to stage the kill. Only being woken by the constant calls of the by now erratic client who was concerned about how long Viz was taking, the hunter drunkenly decided that if the bureaucrat was so eager to have the target killed then he would do it right then and there. Flying his ship low through the rush hour traffic of the planets capital city Viz effortlessly weaved dangerously through the different levels of traffic before sweeping up into the highest levels of the city skyline to get to the targets location. It was here that the alcohol dulled Viz’s abilities a bit too much and instead of ‘accidentally’ crashing through the support that held up the glass conference room where the Imperial official was watching a demonstration of some sort - Viz actually collided with the room itself. His ship crashed through the walls before anyone even noticed it was outside and it smeared most of the officers and scientists across the floor and up against the far wall that brought the ship to an abrupt stop. Stumbling out of the ship, Viz found only one living person in the wreckage but all they could do was continuously scream. They werent going to be useful for confirming the kill so Viz took the next best thing and picked up a medium sized metal sphere on the ground that he drunkenly assumed must have been a fallen security camera before he stumbled back into his ship and flew off, engaging some pursuing fighters in low orbit and barely coming out on top before jumping out of the system.

Viz found that the client wouldn't answer his calls after that and he never paid him so Viz kept what he now realised was a droid brain for himself as payment. After another few jobs Viz also stole an old pre-Empire battle droid which he stuffed the brain into despite it barely fitting. He named the droid [Sebastian’s character name] and made it his slave which would plot jumps for him, make his food, clean the ship, be the point of contact with clients and keep the ‘aquarium’ topped up.

Viz Argid was living the dream.
