Background

Kuupo (KOO-poe) was a young Ewok living a simple scout's life in Bright Tree Village on the Forest Moon of Endor. He was completely unconcerned with life outside the village until the day strange creatures were taken in by the Bright Tree tribe. These tall, strangely-garbed, and near-hairless creatures came to be known to the villagers as the Towani Family. In particular, Kuupo came to know and become close to Mace Towani, the elder of the family's children.

Kuupo's pastoral life was further shaken up when marauders raided Bright Tree Village. In an attempt to defend the village, Mace was killed and many villagersa were captured--Kuupo included and, later, the younger daughter of the Towani family, Cindel.

Kuupo, Cindel, and the rest of the Ewoks were liberated by Wicket, one of his tribe-kin, with the aid of Noa, another stranger of Cindel's kind. Working together, the Bright Tree Villagers and their new friends pushed back the marauder forces.

Having succeeded in liberating themselves, the Ewoks bid farewell to Cindel and Noa. The two humans restored Noa's crashed starship and left the Forest Moon of Endor, heading for their homeworlds.

The sight of the ship flying away stayed with Kuupo. And since then, he would gaze wistfully up into the night, wondering what other wonders filled the star-studded sky. He learned to fly in one of the villages gliders. When the Empire came in 4 ABY to build the second Death Star's shield generator on the Forest Moon, Kuupo was one of the villagers that joined the rebel attack. He flew his glider into the battle, dropping rocks on Storm Troopers and AT-STs.

When the Battle of Endor was one, Kuupo realized that he had finally found a way to follow Cindel and Noa into the stars.

* Mace's last words to Kuupo was to take care of Cindel, and Kuupo took these words to heart before witnessing his friend die. It was with reluctance that he watched Cindel leave Endor with Noa. Now that he's offworld and exploring, Kuupo longs to find Cindel and make sure she is safe--a vow kept to a friend now gone.
