Background
A beta model that has a peculiar issue making it more stubborn than most R series droids. Since being manufactured it has had several data wipes but the flaw seems to be baked into the core logic of the droid.
It has been passed along from owner to owner lacking the versatility most people expect from an R series.
It was last sold as part of "deal" with the current ship in which it resides.
Motivation
Similar to Droid Companion, this R4 has a motivation of Ship Companion.
It will go to great lengths to secure the health and well being of the ship and always makes decisions based on that.
Though it is programmed not subvert control from crew members or interfere with their regular tasks. It often finds ways to "interpret" the logic governing these rules if it feels it's own decision would better its beloved craft.
Obligations
R4-B8 has the equivalent of an addiction to caring for the ship it gets stationed with. Due to faulty programming it seems hell bent on being assigned to any type of ship and only performing duties which include that craft.
Though a capable mechanic and caretaker, it suffers processing strain if forced to anything that doesn't tie to its currently assigned vessel.
Description
This R4 unit is in relatively good condition. Its matt grey paint with black accents is a bit marred and could use a touch up but is otherwise what one would expect of a working droid.
R4-B8 uses a number of hidden slots and compartments to store tools and other gadgets, some of which can be swapped out in favor of other equipment.
At some point someone installed a Holdout Blaster on the droid that seems to have gone relatively unused.
