Background
Born on Gdynia, Mars, Ioannis learned to be deeply patriotic from his family's military history. His father was a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, and his grandfather a rifleman. A year after his birth, his father was killed at Eridanus II, and as such he grew up without that figure in his life. Despite this, and the grim path his brother took, Ioannis became determined to focus hard and live up to his family's past. The boy worked hard in school and spent most of his time in track and field. After graduation from high school, he thought about enlisting right away, but stayed away from the war for a few months. Instead, he worked under lightweight automechanics. As the war progressed, Ioannis finally made the choice to enlist. While his brother eventually became a UNSCAF pilot, Ioannis opted for the Marine Corps as most others did in his bloodline.
