Background
Born on Fondor to an Engineer mother and a bureaucrat father, Jaren's first years were as idyllic as life on Fondor could be. Much to his father's dismay, he took much more after his mother's technical acumen, tinkering with playsets shortly after toddlerhood. His childhood was then idyllic, for a time. A handful of years after the Battle of Jakku, an old Jedi Knight by the name of Racsak Varian, and his then apprentice, Qotta Kna, landed in secret on Fondor. Having come to Fondor to get some vitally needed repairs, the two managed to hire Jaren's mother for the engineering work. Sadly, this would be the end of Jaren's idyllic childhood, for Jaren began assisting his mother in lieu of schooling.
Hot on the trail of Varian was an Inquisitor that went by no name. Tracking the pair to Fondor, the Knight and Apprentice met in battle in the landing bay of Varian's ship of the Inquisitor and his forces. His mother cut down from stray blaster fire, and the Knight Varian seemingly killing the Inquisitor in a karmic strike, only Jaren and Apprentice Kna remained. With his dying breath, the Varian told Kna to train Jaren, as he could sense Destiny brought them together, and to use the holocron that Varian had used for Kna's own training to continue.
And so it was, after quickly giving the situational report to Jaren's father about Jaren's ability with the Force, the fight, and how Jaren would not be safe anymore on Fondor while the Empire was still around, Jaren began travelling with his mentor. Finding solace and purpose in the final days of the Rebellion, Kna and Jaren worked as mechanics when they could, and occasionally Kna would lead battles when they weren't travelling the Galaxy for training.
It was during one of these travels that Jaren first came to be truly open to the Force. Seeking the expertise the Ithorians had on ecological sciences, Kna and Jaren traveled to Ithor as part of a delegation, hoping the near-Jedi air of Kna would help lead a bit of legitimacy and weight to the proceedings. General Organa-Solo befriended both Kna and Jaren on this delegation, and while Jaren remembers this time fondly, most of it was overshadowed by his finally feeling the Force through the jungle of the world below, and the many meditations he and Kna had with the Ithorian Mystics while there.
But life as a proto-Jedi was not sedentary, After Ithor, Kna felt that training Jaren would be best if they were involved in anti-pirating actions that spiked after the Fall of the Empire, and with the New Republic hastily trying to find its footing and manage the many Star Systems left in its wake. As such, Jaren never became a member of Luke Skywalker's Academy, and instead trained in fleet actions, ambushing of Pirates, and following his Mentor along the Hyperlanes of the unaligned worlds. Jaren and his mentor spent years doing this, and he began feeling a peace from travelling, from righting wrongs, and from saving people, including those whom served alongside him and Kna.
Then the unthinkable happened - the First Order came back and destroyed the Hosnian system. The news reverberated throughout the Galaxy, and it only took a few days of searching on old Rebel Alliance codes to find a channel to General Organa. Remembering the motherly woman from his youth, and Kna having spent much of his years in the Rebellion, they returned to serve the nascent Resistance.
After a few months of this, and having served several missions under General Organa, Kna turned to Jaren. "We have come to a point that it is time to free you and see how you fly. General Organa has a mission for you, and this will test your convictions, your skills, and your very being in many ways I do not think you can imagine. Your presence is requested on Taris..."

Description
Personality :
Willfull, but not antagonistically so. Jaren keeps mostly to himself, cordial and friendly, but not overly so. He usually only opens up to those he has fought beside, usually keeping his thoughts to himself, which sometimes comes off as a cold, or aloof, demeanor. His approach to problems is like that of an engineer's: break it down into parts, solve the parts you can, and plan for those you can't.
Physical Description :
Athletic build, almost always with his armor on. Black hair, usually long, is almost always kept in a top knot, and rich azure eyes show the canny intelligence behind the piercing gaze. Pale skin is almost luminous with as little of it is seen by the light of any sun.
