Background
Born on the Imperial world of Carida, Helia grew up in a family with a strong sense of military honor to the newly formed Empire. Never seeing the Republic - only being born 1 year after it's dissolution - she was in a new generation of impressionable citizens that would form the bulk of the Empire's military during the Galactic Civil War.
Being put into the Carida Imperial Academy at the age of 12, Helia excelled in starfighter piloting and leadership courses. Upon graduating at 18, she was placed as second in command to Ochre Squadron - a TIE squadron stationed on the Imperial Star Destroyer 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳. Her first deployment would be in the aftermath of the destruction of the first Death Star - all that hate and emotion being pointed straight at the Rebel forces fleeing Yavin IV.
After many more minor deployments against Rebel forces - the next major battle came at Endor. Now the Wing Commander of Ochre Squadron after the previous commander's demise, Helia would lead during the attempted trap above the Forest Moon. When orders stopped coming from the Emperor and the Death Star II exploded - everything went to hell.
Every hyperspace-capable craft jumped away as fast as they could, leaving many TIEs behind. Many of those left behind would be picked off by marauding Rebel forces. Instead of organizing or fighting back as the Empire taught - Helia sped off as fast as possible. Hiding amongst the ruins of the Death Star, she managed to survive until a band of scrappers showed up two weeks after the battle's end.
After paying off the debt to those who saved her, Helia now roams the Outer Rim offering knowledge of Imperial tactics and training, or as a pilot-for-hire.
Motivation
(Regain Honor)
Helia knows that the Empire has her marked as a deserter - a fact that brings massive dishonor to her family name back on Carida. She needs to find a way to regain that honor or disconnect herself from it.
