Groguss Phira is a skilled doctor of a colony on Gand. He came from an average family who had a decent living. His mother was a technician working for the Gand government fixing droids and sometimes ships to trade with those from other worlds. His love for science came from her. She tried to pass on her knowledge of repairing technology but Gorguss wasn't able to replicate her techniques very well. He could fix small problems with droids but nothing complex.

His father was a farmer one of the few left with the terrible conditions on Gand. He didn't mind the harsh ammonia atmosphere because he didn't have any lungs. Through their influence he became a level headed and meticulous Gand with a strong desire to learn all he could about science particularly medicine. His parents were able to scrape enough money together to send Groguss to a school on one of the orbiting stations of Gand to learn to be a Doctor that he always wanted.

A few years into his schooling a disease quickly began to spread throughout the cities on Gand. It seemed to strike at random and people who had come into contact with the afflicted sometimes didn't show any symptoms. New cases of the diseases were appearing daily if not hourly. However, new cases were never observed on Probos. This piqued Gorguss' interest and he began to specialize in the study of virulent diseases.

During the final years of his study at Probos station, the doctors there including himself had noted certain characteristics of the disease. Medical officers determined that the disease wasn't airborne but were baffled as to how it was transmitting so quickly. Once the disease became present the patient's fingers started to decay and red pustules formed in place of the pores on their scalp. It seemed to attack locomotion first because after a short time victims could no longer walk. In the final stages the person reverted to a child like state. It was uncertain if their memories were being destroyed or they were hallucinating due to extreme stress from the disease. The disease was also present in all different types of Gand including those with or without lungs.

Shortly after he became a licensed practitioner his parents were diagnosed with the disease. None of the drugs they tried to fight the disease seemed to have any effect. Despite having a vast medical knowledge the Gand had of their bodies, they were unable to make any headway. Gorguss was able to speak with his parents from a quarantined environment but they had already lost the ability to walk. It was then that he decided that he needed to venture out into space past Probos in order to find more information about the disease.

Relationship, Place of origin: Gorguss is deeply prideful of the Gand people and he wants to save the members of his species that are suffering from the disease that has been spreading across the planet's surface. He is also concerned about sharing the state of his home world with others since no one outside of the Gand has heard anything about the disease. It's almost a religious pilgrimage to him.

Ambition, Expertise: Gorguss wants to hone his medical training of Gand and other lifeforms so that he can refer to himself by his given name which can only be done when a Gand achieves a significant event in their life.
