Background
Starting as an artillery ensign, Daniel had an aptitude for leadership and for tactical and strategic planning. Quickly rising through the ranks, he became the officer for an SPG battalion which also boasted a company of mechanised infantry. Using these to great effect in many conflicts galaxy wide, he had his fair share of rivals, both political and personal. After accidentally being the one to accept a surrender in a Moff's place, his rivals thought he'd gone a step too far.
Throwing him into the worst battlefields possible, his battalion became known as the Emperors Orchestra, due to the sound of the mortars and artillery pummeling the enemy positions even when all seemed lost. They lost many men, casualty rates through the roof, however they were extremely effective at saving even the most impossible of situations. His rivals were infuriated that he still persevered and even thrived, creating a renowned veteran unit.
This was the final straw. After framing him for the murder of a senior officer, his unit was ordered to fire on civilians in Gizer. He refused, was demoted and his unit disbanded, before being placed on Uyter with only a handful of his men as punishment...
