Palany's parents were deep in debt to the hutt when she was just into her teens. That's when they sold her as an indentured servant to pay off their credit debt. They made a bargain with the hutt, and about a year or so into her servitude, the hutt who was once annoyed at this realized her Knack and talent for fixing broken droids, and comms. He decided then to lend a reasonable amount of credits to her parents so she would forever be his slave, and that's the way everyone liked it. Except for her. She tried several ways of leaving the service of the hutt. Going so far as to eat something she knew would make her sick, trying to force them to let her go, but it backfired when he just didn't care at all. Luckily a Twi'lek doctor saw this, and took pity on the poor girl. He made an excuse of needing repairs, but once she was inside he healed her up. they worked together off and on after that. After waiting 11 years of servitude, and being a slave to the hutt, she finally saw her chance. A crew who needed a technician, and they were headed to deep space. She saw her chance... and she took it.
