Name Rank Book & Page Description
Respected Scholar 1 EotE 142 The character downgrades the difficulty of checks to interact with institutions of learning equal to his ranks in Respected Scholar.
Speaks Binary 1 EotE 143 The character grants a boost die per rank of Speaks Binary to any tasks he directs a nonplayer droid to perform.
Grit 1 EotE 136 Each rank of Grit increases a character's strain threshold by one.
Brace 1 EotE 132 As a maneuver, the character may Brace himself. This allows a character to remove a setback dice per rank of Brace from the next skill check based on changing conditions, inclement weather, unstable surfaces, zero gravity, heavy gravity, or other disruptive physical obstacles that would make a skill check more difficult.
Researcher 1 EotE 141 The character removes a setback dice per rank of Researcher from [their] Knowledge checks. Researching takes 50% less time (this does not increase with additional ranks of Researcher).
Well Rounded 1 EotE 145 The character chooses any two skills. They permanently become career skills.
Natural Scholar 1 EotE 139 Once per game session, the character may reroll any one Knowledge skill check.
Confidence 1 EotE 133 The character may decrease the difficulty of any Discipline check to avoid the effects of fear by one per rank of Confidence. If [they] decrease the difficulty to zero, [they] do not have to make a Discipline check.
Resolve 1 EotE 142 When the character suffers strain, they suffer 1 less strain per rank of Resolve, to a minimum of one. This does not apply to voluntary strain loss.
Toughened 1 EotE 145 The character increases [their] wound threshold by two per rank of Toughened.
Dedication 1 EotE 134 Each rank permanently increases a single characteristic of the player's choice by one point. This cannot bring a characteristic above six. (Brawn)
Mental Fortress 1 EotE 139 The character may spend one Destiny Point to ignore the effects of ongoing Critical Injuries on any Intellect- or Cunning-related checks until the end of the encounter. [They] still suffer from the injury itself.
Unmatched Expertise 1 FH 37 Once per game session as an action, the character may spend two Destiny Points to reduce the difficulty of all career skill checks [they] make by one, to a minimum of Easy, for the remainder of the encounter.

Background

Garth was always fascinated by the galaxies other species and cultures. Especially ancient cultures and those peoples who lived on inhospitable planets. However he was never satisfied with the history records that only allowed him to read about such things. Unlike his fellow drall Garth wanted to go out and get his hands dirty, meet new people, see new places, and maybe even dig up a few discoveries himself. Using his connections he managed to get a ticket off his home planet by getting work as a "acquisitions" appraiser. He wants nothing more that to actually be on site at a dig and get some hands on experience. Here's hoping his naivety in the ways of the fringe don't get him killed first.

Motivation

Ambition: Wanderlust / Novelty: Garth wants to see strange new places and meet odd new people. He wants to experience everything he's read and studied about and maybe be the first at something. He doesn't really care what he's first at, just the thrill of being the first is enough.

Obligations

Sponsorship: This represents a legitimate faction that has placed a great deal of resources in the hands of a character (or a team) for some established purpose. For many Explorers, it is the most common Obligation they will incur. It could be a mercantile consortium that sponsors a Trader in order to open up trade with a new planet or civilization or an Imperial agency sponsoring a Scout to investigate a newly discovered star and its planets.
Archaeologists are frequently sponsored by academies or other scholastically minded organizations for their expeditions, and Big-Game Hunters may well be sponsored by a conservation group to thin a particular population of beasts...or sponsored by less savory firms to completely eradicate a particular life-form.

Description

Average Grall, dark brown fur with white streaks. Likes to fashion his face fur into impressive (he thinks) patterns. Currently has quite the large handlebar mustache.

Other Notes

Drall begin the game with one rank in Knowledge (Education). They still may not train Knowledge (Education) above rank 2 during character creation. Drall have a mind for problems and their solutions. In addition to using his skill or characteristic rating, a Drall adds a boost die to the dice pool when providing skilled assistance.
