Background
Born to a moderately wealthy Mirialan family, Vanu was pressured from a young age to find a talent in which he would excel. After a number of hobbies, each dropped nearly before they began, his uncle introduced him to a sporting rifle, and an obsession was born. Moving quickly from stationary targets to holographic sim-ranges, to youth competitions, Vanu's uncle, Tavir, eventually began taking him on hunting trips, a dearly-needed break from his family's expectations. No sport hunting, these were contracted journeys where they would cull populations of dangerous predators, his uncle's way of paying homage to the Balance of the Force. After several years of these hunting trips, when Vanu was 17, his uncle brought him on a different kind of trip. High in orbit above the isolated frontier world of Tatooine, Tavir revealed a long-kept secret: he was once a Jedi Watchman, and had long-since recognized the Force-sensitivity in his nephew, and that it was this ability that allowed him such unerring precision. Vanu had barely begun to process this revelation, when the ship was rocked by laser blasts. No warship, the craft only escaped complete obliteration by Tavir diving toward the surface of the planet, in a trajectory far too steep for safe atmospheric entry. Escaping their pursuers, whoever they were, the ship was nevertheless out of control, and barely remained intact upon impacting the surface. Waking to wreckage and blood, Vanu found his uncle dead, the ship irreparable, and resources limited. Gathering supplies, and drawing what little data he could from the nav-computer, Vanu set off towards the nearest settlement, his grief for his uncle tempered by a sense of freedom from his overbearing family, and a desire to hone his skill outside the padded safety of his home.
Motivation
Deadliness: Remembering his uncle Tavir, and the purpose that drove his hunting trips, Vanu is driven to hone his skill, and perfect his ability to deal death to those that threaten the Balance.
Morality
Independence: The character believes in relying on himself. He does not count on others to perform tasks for him; instead, he ensures he can handle any situation he encounters. He refuses to be a burden on others.
Coldness: Self-reliance can slip into isolation if one is not careful. A cold character doesn't just desire to rely only on himself, but has nothing but disinterest for anyone else. If they can’t help themselves, why should he aid them?
