Background

For as long as he could remember, Arren Tazzik had a troubled life. From a young age, the seemingly unsuspecting Lepi had found himself getting into some manner or another of trouble, often getting into even more trouble in the process of digging himself out. His parents worried for him, but he took care of himself and always tried to keep his penchant for mischief to a minimum.

Eventually, he would wind up falling in with one of the local gangs of Nar Shaada, carrying out small jobs like supply runs and shaking down people who were behind on debt. He was good at what he did, as he packed quite a hit in spite of his unsuspecting stature. This made him a rather effective tool for whatever chaos was being sewn by his group.

One day, however, things would reach a tipping point for the young Lepi. On a job typical of what he usually got asked to do, an unexpected development occurred. While he was shaking down and roughing up a particularly stubborn debtor, he and the other gang members present had noticed other individuals in the building - 2 children, kids of the debtor. The other gang members, much more brutish and prone to violence, saw merely bargaining chips to squeeze as much money as they could out of the already beaten and shaken individual... But where they saw opportunity, Arren only saw reflections of himself... His upbringing had been fairly fortunate, minus his own tendencies to get into trouble. His parents hadn't always seen eye to eye, but he did his best to keep them from fighting due to his rowdy behavior... the thought of his already strained parents forming a schism because of something he couldn't help hurt him deeper than he had thought possible, and the thought of letting the same thing happen to two innocent children who were caught in something they couldn't understand made his blood boil. Time seemed to slow as one of the gang brutes raised his fist to strike the child, a blow that would certainly injure them severely... unable to ignore the cry for justice in his gut, he acted the only way he knew how.

The resultant scuffle wasn't pretty. His first kick sent the thug across the room, slamming into a wall. The other 2 stared at Arren in shock before closing in on him, a look of unmatched violence on their faces that he had only seen directed at people he thought deserved it before. He blocked the first hit and retaliated with another sharp kick, sending the second grunt reeling. The third managed to land a blow on him, the sting of vibroknucklers coursing through his body, but he refused to yield.

The ensuing violence wasn't pretty, but it bought the debtor and his children the time they needed to get clear... by the time all was said and done, the thugs were in rough shape, but Arren was even worse. He could barely see straight, his entire body felt like it was on fire, and his ears were ringing. As his former allies stood over him, his thoughts werent on what he could've done differently, or why it had to end up like this... he could only manage a weary smirk knowing he had given someone the push back to reality they deserved, praying it would go to good use...

Just before they could finish the job, sirens rang out. The scuffle had attracted the local authorities, and the thugs cursed amongst themselves, knowing they couldn't be caught but letting this lesson go unpunished wouldn't be wise... eventually they fled out the back of the building, leaving Arren to deal with the heat himself.

It was the longest week of his life, sitting in the local detention center while authorities determined what to do with him. He sat there in his cell, silently overhearing conversations about sending him to various prison worlds, where dangerous ruffians were typically sent. All the while, he couldn't stop thinking about what his parents would think of him winding up in a situation like this... the pride they would likely feel in him defending the innocent would mean nothing compared to the shame and dread of losing him... That thought kept him awake most of the week he was incarcerated, but on the 6th night it became too much and he finally passed out from exhaustion.

The following day, he was awoken to a rather surprising turn of events. He had been let free, and the person who had come to pick him up was someone he had never seen before, only telling him that his actions had interested another gang, one who treated their people much better than the one he had come from. The offer was open ended, but the implication hung in the air as they left. He thought about just giving up, going back to his parents and trying to fix himself up now that he had been within an inch of getting done in... but if he did, he wouldn't have the chance to get back at the people that had done this to him... so he decided to follow the lead he was given, and seek out the one known as Morana.

Motivation

Arren has a prevailing sense of justice, determined to keep the balance and stand up for those weaker than him, even if he gets a bit dusted up in the process. In his eyes, bringing down an oppressive force to protect the innocent is among the most noble of causes, and he strives to make sure anyone who stands on the throats of others gets what they deserve.

Obligations

Arren is driven strongly by his sense of justice and a desire to make things right, but just as strongly he's pushed forward by revenge, determined to strike back at the one's who have wronged him so deeply. He follows Morana partly out of gratitude for her saving him, but also because he knows it's the easiest way to get even, as enforcing her territory and possibly expanding it is plenty excuse to take care of the chip on his shoulder, but ultimately he still tries to do whatever is right, although he won't shy from violence if he can work it in.
