Background

Mirin was born on the home planet of his species, Glee Anselm. His parents Goru and Sanki had him in a coral reef shantytown a little ways off the coast of a small island inhabited by the surface dwelling Anselmi. The shantytown stretched from the reef to a sandbar on the coast where they farmed seaweed, reared small whales and waterfowl, and performed basic crafting. The town was always in danger of being raided by the Anselmi and conversely was always in various stages of "invading" the island. They'd come up from the reef into the jungle to swipe fruit, roots, vegetables, and assorted animals, ususally trying to do so without getting caught by the anselmi, but on the occasions in which they were conflict would quickly ensue. With this environment, the reef became known for producing hard workers and high tier fighters who developed martial arts to better combat the Anselmi without access to heavy duty weapons. Mirin was taught to fight as soon as his limbs had developed and was taken on raids on the island with his parents. His skills were honed quickly to where he could hold his own against his teachers for considerably longer . Of course with such reputation, responsibilities around the reef started to mount for him. He may have loved helping his people, but he was anything but dutiful. when he wasn't being the go-to problem solver of the reef he was doing all he could to enjoy himself, training and...."taking very enthusiastic walks". he'd often take to the surface and spy on the Anselmi, pick some fruits to eat, climb trees, swim in the river, maybe pull a prank or two on the unsuspecting land dwellers, simply enjoying life in his way. He enjoyed these ventures most when he got caught so he could fight his way back to ocean.
It was on one of those excursions that he observed something most disturbing. The Anselmi seemed to be in talks with off worlders he'd never seen before, but from what he could tell, they were very heavily armed. Upon attempting to return to the Reef he was ambushed and overwhelmed, sustaining heavy injuries before retreating into the jungle and passing out in the underbrush. when he came to he ran as fast as he could to his city to find that it was abandoned and nearly in ruins. he spent a considerable amount of time looking for survivors until he actually found them returning from across the open ocean. upon, reinhabiting the city they learn that their highly symbolic relic, the golden skull of a whale calf, was missing. against the behest of the city's Elder, Mirin immediately took off to try and catch the mercenaries and get the skull back. he managed to catch one on the mainland before he could return to a shuttlecraft and beat him until he disclosed where they were taking the skull. He then forced the mercenary to take him to their hideout on Ord Mantell before killing him upon landing in Ord Mantell city. he scoured the spaceport to find the other shuttle crafts the mercenaries traveled in, and upon doing so he staked them out until they moved the skull into the open. as soon as he saw the skull be carried out of one of the shuttles, he bolted at it without a second thought. luckily none of the mercenaries were expecting him and he was fast enough to quickly take down the mercenary carrying the relic and take off with it before the rest of them knew what was going on. He forced all his stamina and adrenaline to take him across Ord Mantell, but the mercenaries didn't let up. they pursued him on foot for a short while until they decided speeders were a better alternative, to which Mirin responded b taking back roads, side roads and alleyways. he soon found himself in a commercial area controlled by the Black Sun who quickly amassed and opened fire upon the mercenaries as they entered their territory. in the shootout Mirin was forced to keep a low profile but soon had to fight off a few mercenaries who tried advancing on his position. Luckily the martial art his people trained him in was heavily based in making use of every part of your body for combat, but was arguably most adept in kicks. This allowed Mirin to fight while carrying the particularly cumbersome golden whale skull without too much hindrance. eventually the mercenaries retreated and the Vigo in charge of the Black Sun on Ord Mantell, a Devaronian named Griktahl, confronted the young Nautolan before he could flee the scene. Griktahl expressed interest in Mirin's talents and offered him a spot in the Black Sun. Mirin, having now (in his eyes) experienced more excitement in this one trip to Ord Mantell than he has ever experienced in his life and being unwilling to let that feeling go, agreed to join them on the condition that they take him back to Glee Anselm so he may return the golden skull. they flew him back so that he may return the relic, but before he left his parents wanted to take him out for a family tradition. once night fell, they left reef out into the open ocean to hunt down a wooriid, a great carnivorous beast that produces a neurotoxin to catch it's prey. he managed to kill the beast and take some of it's teeth as trophies before the toxin paralyzed him. It was then that his parents took him back to the reef so that they could dye permanent markings into his skin. traditionally they inject copious amounts of dye into the skin and the pulse of the their multiple hearts spreads the dye into patterns unique to each individual. Mirin left his family that morning with his distinctive markings and a necklace of Wooriid teeth.
Upon return to Ord Mantell, Griktahl got right to work training Mirin into an enforcer and bodyguard for smuggling operations. he occasionally went on some raids, and was especially present when they purged the mercenaries from the city. Mirin and Griktahl quickly became brothers of sorts (a kind of older/younger sibling situation) through their misadventures. they especially bonded when they took on more outlandish stunts and risky missions, taking on bigger prizes and such. But soon the stronghold they resided in came under attack by the Sith Lord, Darth Maul, who'd recently been picking off Black Sun Vigos one by one. The Sith Lord had now set his eyes upon Griktahl and began slaughtering everyone within the stronghold. As Maul advanced upon Griktahl, Mirin managed to rush and land a kick on him. he was immediately rewarded with being force choked and launched across the stronghold. Luckily this gave Griktahl enough time to flee, as well as getting Mirin clear of the Sith so he could retreat too. Mirin manged to meet up with some other members who'd escaped and fled offworld with them. They resolved to go to Drongar where they could deal in the miracle medicinal plant, bota.
On Drongar, Mirin aided an operative named Lens in disrupting the Republic's operation on the planet, keeping both Confederacy and Republic forces away from local bota farms, occasionally working said farms, and smuggling bota to the Republic at a high price after the murder of their hutt quartermaster. Again, Mirin was forced to pick up and leave when their operation was rooted out. Lens was found out by the Jedi Padawan Barriss Offee and subsequently killed by the surgeon Jos Vondar. Seeking immediate retribution Mirin took a few Black Sun members and went to kill the surgeon, however they were thwarted by Offee. Mirin managed to severely wound Vondar but a powerful force push from the Jedi kept him from landing a killing blow. He knew the Jedi could easily dispatch him but engaged her anyways, rushing her with a single sucker punch with his vibroknucklers before immediately retreating, his fellow's already having been felled by the Jedi and accompanying Clones. With the operation on Drongar effectively ruined, Mirin left the planet in search of a new adventure.
He ended up going to Pakuuni, where he heard pirates liked to reside. he ended up temporarily joining up with a Zabrak named Baden Wox's crew for a mission to reclaim a cargo ship of Mon Calamari ship parts from the Separatist Quarren who'd taken it Ruisto. They managed to hijack the cargo ship and sped t right back to Mon Calamari. Mirin oversaw the transfer of the goods while Baden received the payment, however upon finishing the transaction Mirin was left stranded by the pirates.

Motivation

Wanderlust/novelty: He strives to experience anything and everything. he's essentially a hedonist, finding his pleasure in thrills, risks, hijinks, shenaniganry, or other general impulses at all opportunities

Obligations

-Thrill Seeker (15): "Some people are addicted to alcohol or chems. others to gambling or other seedy vices. This character, however. is a confirmed adrenaline junkie and chooses bounties not by their challenge or price, but by how exciting or dangerous they are. Avoiding the Obligation—perhaps by being a responsible business operator and considering every job's cost benefit analysis—results in an almost immediate case of excitement withdrawal. When inactive, the character is edgy, moody, easily distracted, and generally unpleasant: to be around."

He lives off of pursuing his impulses no matter how random, minor, or likely to bring about complications. he derives pleasure and enjoyment from it. he gets bored very easily and when he does he gets very volatile, committing acts of mischief or overall just making rash decisions to the end of having some fun. if there is a chance for him to get a rush or satisfy an impulse, be it the preposition of a fight, sprinkling granulated death sticks into the helmets of a bunch of clone troopers, or simply sneaking some fruit from a vendor for a quick snack, he'll jump at it

-Antagonist (5): Baden Wax

Description

-His martial art of choice is closest to a mix of Muay Thai and Capoeira

Standing at 6 feet tall, Mirin cuts a lean and lithe physique, built and toned from a lifetime of martial arts training, a nearly all pescatarian diet, and laboring to support a shanty town by farming, hunting, gathering, and building. his skin is a deep cobalt colour and dyed into a distinct pattern. This pattern resembles that of an Asagi Koi fish, complete with a slightly paler face and a red circle on his forehead. There are red strapes that run over each eye and down his sides. one head tentacle on each side side of his head are coloured red by the same stripes over his eyes.the tops of his arms are red while the undersides are the same cobalt colour of the rest of his body. The other 12 of his 14 head tendrils are a navy blue colour that travles in a large teardrop shape down his back. his Left arm does boast a tattoo of the Black Sun insignia on the inside of his forearm but with the outline of a whale skull at the centre.
he dresses in a blackened armor weave tank top with durosteel scalemail overlaid over it. his pants are of the same material and are loose fitting for ease of movement, especially for kicks. he doesn't wear shoes, instead he wraps his feet, hands and wrists with strong dark green seaweed rope. These wrappings acted as cushioning for striking and also served to cover the Black Sun marking on his wrist. His mid/lower back length head tendrils are adorned with thick pointed steel rings that are meant to mimic the look of scales.
