Background

Born and raised on the core world of Bar’leth, his father is a professor of medicine at the University of Bar’leth. From an early age, he was groomed to follow his father’s path as a physician. Although he relished the opportunity to help the sick and injured, he began to have serious difficulties reconciling his father’s pacifism with his growing belief that sometimes conflict was the only way to truly help people.

While in medical school, his instructors were amazed at his abilities. It seemed as if he just intuitively knew the right thing to and the response in the patients was astonishing. He was labelled as “gifted” and a “prodigy” and while the accolades were welcome, he could not believe that other people could not do the same thing. He soon developed the opinion that he was one of the only competent physicians on Bar’leth, even though he recognized that he still had a lot to learn.

To deal with the conflict in his heart, he began to study what combat arts were available to him. The concentration and physical training required seemed to resonate with him, especially when if came to the protection of others. He found that he was responding to combat situations almost as if he were being guided in his actions. He began to suspect that perhaps he was sensitive to the force but kept that knowledge to himself. He was aware of the history of the Jedi order and the Empire’s pogrom against
force users and had no desire to come to the attention of the imperials.

His beliefs crystallized and his emotional conflict ended at a spontaneous student protest at the university that was brutally suppressed by the forces of the empire. His best friend Lirin suffered permanent brain damage because of a beating delivered by an imperial soldier. His only crime was protesting the growing censorship and propaganda of the Empire. Regier was not able to protect his friend and that failure haunted him.

Regier began to seek out like-minded individuals. His father was appalled, but Regier was determined that something beyond acceptance was required. He knew that there were forces in rebellion against the empire, but he had no idea how to get in contact with them. His desire to be a bulwark against forces that would harm the innocent has become a driving focus in his life.

Emotional Weakness - Arrogance - Pride, among all emotions, is perhaps the easiest to fall to a darker form. Arrogance mirrors pride, but satisfaction on one's accomplishments is replaced with contempt for others' failings. It is not enough to succeed the character expects others to fail.

Emotional Strength - Compassion - The character cares about the tribulations others face and wants to help those he comes across. His compassion may lead to self-sacrifice in order to aid those who need it.
