Background
Shodol Dari was born to highly-esteemed Warrior parents of a powerful Mandalorian clan. His parents, Dainn and Xae Dari, are the strongest (brawn) warriors in the clan, but Shodol wasn’t born with the same raw strength. As a result, he was often ridiculed by his peers from a young age, told he would never be fit to wear the armor of a Mandalorian. However, Shodol is smarter than the average Mandalorian, and he would often scheme ways to get back at his peers without them knowing he was to blame (Force Power: Misdirect), even causing them to direct their negative attentions away from him and towards each other.
Shodol often felt like he was being watched from afar, but he shrugged it off as just feeling excluded from his peers. However, his paranoia turned out to be justified. At age 9, when traveling with his parents to Mygeeto on Clan business, Shodol became separated from his parents when the envoy from Clan Dari were ambushed by a group of Jedi Knights. The Knights cornered the young Mandalorian, causing him to demonstrate that he was capable of using the Force (this sets up nicely for a flashback later!). The Jedi took Shodol, believing he was young enough to be trained to become a Jedi himself. Recognizing that it was his best chance at survival, Shodol undertook the training, committing to become a Jedi.
The Oath: Canons of Honor
Early in his training, Shodol recognized that his ability to manipulate the Force gave him the opportunity to uphold his true code. Strength is Life, for the Strong have the right to Rule. Learning to master the Force will allow him to become strong enough to live up to his parents expectations. Honor is Life, for with no Honor, one may as well be Dead. Becoming strong in the Force will allow him to honor his family name by proving he is worthy of the armor. Loyalty is Life, for without one’s Clan, one has no Purpose. Ultimately, the Jedi are his captors and Shodol’s true loyalty lies with his Clan. His Purpose is to become powerful enough to return home to his Clan with honor through strength. Death is Life, One should Die as they have Lived. Legacy is crucial to Shodol. Since he has always felt like an outcast, he feels he must become even more powerful than anyone in his Clan ever has. By doing so, no one will be able to tell him he’s not good enough.
The Obsession: Knowledge is Power
Desiring to become powerful enough to feel worthy of his Clan name, Shodol becomes obsessed with finding Lore (Jedi, Sith, other...doesn’t matter to him) in the form of writings and artifacts that will allow him to become the most powerful member in Clan Dari history. He does not have an explicit desire to be named Mand’alor, though that might change as he acquires more power.

Shodol was assigned to Jedi Master Zloto Loso, an Iktotchi Mystic Seer who was one of the rare individuals with the gift of Psychometry. Due to some of the experiences he had connecting with items of questionable origin, Loso was knowledgeable about things that extended well beyond the limits of the Jedi Archives. In fact, it was due to his interaction with the Darksaber that Zloto was assigned to train Shodol. Loso was a utilitarian at his heart, recognizing that he could do the most good in the Galaxy through his membership in the Jedi Order; his loyalty to the Jedi had been called into question at times--he was even passed over for a position on the very conservative Jedi Council for being too unpredictable--because he filtered his worldview through all of the knowledge he acquired through the items he handled. Zloto Loso believes, above all, in the Cosmic Force, and he believes that of all the religions and organizations in the current galaxy the Jedi have the deepest connection to the Force. Loso spends most of his time on Coruscant, near the expansive Jedi Archives, but he takes the occasional trip, usually at the request of the Jedi Council, to investigate archeological sites and artifacts.
