As a young boy Merrshak was taken in by the jedi order, showing great promise he swiftly distinguished himself as a skilled warrior and alongside his master Renxe Yerrag he became well versed in the ways of the Jedi. However Merrshak's life took a dark turn when he met Joanni Barrell, a fellow Jedi Knight who was a similar age to Merrshak. As young people are wont to do, Merrshak and Joanni became quite close, closer than the Jedi order permitted. Merrshak's emotions slowly got the better of him and he eventually professed his love for Joanni and they swore to never love anyone else. On one of Merrshak's missions he and his master were sent to investigate the source of a Republic distress signal, upon arriving they realised that the source of the signal was a Republic supply ship that had been shot down by Imperial troopers. After sending word to coruscant Merrshak and his master Renxe lead an assault upon the Imperial forces driving them back, until the imperial commander showed their face. Darth Xalduc was a powerful and cunning Sith Lord, and they were powerful enough to sense Merrshak's emotions. They read him like a book. Playing on Merrshak's feelings for Joanni, Xalduc goaded Merrshak until his emotions started to imbalance him, and without his full composure Merrshak was easily subdued and without his padawan's aid so was Renxe. Xalduc tortured Merrshak killing his master in front of him and showing how he was too weak to protect him, and how he would be unable to save Joanni. Merrshak was overcome by his emotions and the lure of power drew him to the dark side, now his training as a Sith Lord began. Merrshak's strong emotions made him excel at the brutal challenges that he was faced with until at last he was a fully fledged Sith Lord. Now called Darth Forn he served the Sith and their teachings without question for many years becoming more and more powerful as he did so, he eventually outgrew the shadow of his master Darth Xalduc and subsequently executed him pulling him further towards the dark side. During one of his excursions Forn came face to face with Joanni who was now a Jedi Knight and she was horrified by what her beloved had become, she was forced to fight him. Forn was enraged that Joanni had turned against him and in his rage he slew her, this only enraged him further. Blaming the Jedi order for turning his beloved against him Forn went to Coruscant bypassing the Republic fleet and went on a killing spree, slaughtering Innocents and Jedi alike in his rage. His rage made him almost unkillable. The jedi managed to subdue him though try as they might they could not kill him so they took him to a desolate world and imprisoned him in a sealed chamber without food or water, he was driven mad by his anger and his sorrow and eventually he lost consciousness. When Forn awoke, he remembered nothing. Nothing about his origins or about how he got there. He wandered the desolate planes, seeking the truth of his past until he came across a recently landed vessel that was searching for scrap.
