Background
Growing up on Ryloth in what might be called the middle-class, if such a thing truly existed on Ryloth, Etala'zana had the benefit of education. She studied hard, hoping to escape the clan life that she saw so much corruption in. Seeing how the clan system worked on Ryloth caused her to become sympathetic to the weak and oppressed, and there were plenty such on her world. The caring, family oriented face the clans presented to the galaxy was a facade. In truth, the weak and those without status were sold off to slavery, and those who became sick were out of luck unless they had influence. While the clan encouraged her to study engineering and mechanical fields to fill their needs, Etala'zana found those things unsatisfying. Instead, she chose to pursue a career in the medical field. She did her best to ignore the pressure to change her field of study, and despaired when her clan head threatened to sell her if she did not comply and, as he put it, "become useful to the clan." It seemed her fears would become reality when it was announced they were searching for a buyer, but relief came in a message detailing her acceptance into a university to study in the medical field. Begrudgingly, the clan head allowed her to take a transport, as no contract had been completed, and completing her education would give her much more status than she'd had before, and therefore reflect positively on the clan. Etala'zana left and over the years, completed her education, becoming a professional doctor. She traveled from world to world, accepting contracts to aid those she could. Eventually, she received an extremely lucrative offer from a family on Nal Hutta. It seemed that members of the family were becoming ill and dying, quickly and mysteriously. The family physician had also contracted the illness, thus leading to them contacting an outside source. Etala'zana traveled to them as quickly as she could, but upon her arrival discovered that the last of them had passed away already. A quick investigation revealed that it was a subtle poison, and Etala'zana made her way back to the spaceport the next day. Just barely, she noticed the people that lay in wait for her. The group was stopping Twi'leks that remotely resembled her, and asking for her by name. She laughed it off the next day, calling herself paranoid, but when she returned, she found the group still waiting for her. Nervously, she fled. With the spaceport inaccessible, she would hace to find an alternative means of leaving Nal Hutta. She began to make inquiries into private security, mercenaries, and other likely means of safely leaving.
Motivation
Freedom, Friendship, Love. Etala'zana hates to see people suffer needlessly. She will usually attempt to help those who she can help with her skills. The sick, injured, and downtrodden find a place in her heart. She also wishes to find a way of life different from her homeworld, where true friendship, care, or love is seemingly rare. She searches for these things in her travels.
