Background
1. How did you discover your force sensitivity?
A: Veran grew up entirely on the Ring of Kaphrene, and never made it planetside until after he came of age. Destitution required Veran to help his father, Kelden, repairing smaller vehicles and starships at one of the landing port. The Force manifested around a particular engine that Veran was working on, who misinterpreted the aura as dangerous chemical fumes and an electrical static charge in the air. He reported it to his father, who chastised him for "crying wolf" after evacuating the area and discovering that he couldn't find anything wrong with the engine.
2. Describe a moment where you fell prey to your moral weakness or experienced a tragedy/horror that still haunts you.
A: Veran continued to periodically feel these manifestations around different ships and speeders, but avoided them as much as possible out of fear. Fear of the unknown, and fear of his father should he report another falsely dangerous situation. However, one unreported situation did indeed prove to be the force warning Varen of danger, which killed many and destroyed much in the subsequent explosion. The toll weighs heavily on Veran, who remains terrified of the consequences if others realized he had known of the danger but said nothing.
3. How did you come to join the NJO?
A: Years later, Veran was assigned to work on the ship of a passing Jedi. The ship, being so tied to the New Jedi Order and its pilot, connected with Veran more strongly than any before it. The Jedi sensed this, and ultimately made a deal with Veran's father to take the boy to the Academy under the pretence of hiring him as a mechanic for the Temple. Despite the strained relationship, Kelden jumped at the opportunity to give his son a better life, and agreed quickly. Veran discovered that he was actually intended to train at the temple on the way.
4. Name one NPC your character has a strong connection with. This could be a family member, a friend, a work contact, or a bitter rival.
A: Veran and his father, Kelden, have a strained relationship. Both of them were always too busy with work to afford time with each other, and Veran never had a childhood. The circumstances of their separation (Veran heading to the Jedi Temple) has only complicated their relationship further, and Veran has not yet come to terms with the situation.
5. Describe a moment in your life where you demonstrated your moral strength despite adversity.
A: Sensing an easy mark, Kelden began to up-sell a client on a particular kind of engine oil. Young Veran, seeing an opportunity to show his father how well he was learning, corrected Kelden during the sales pitch. Kelden quickly changed gears and saved face with the customer, but punished Veran afterwards for losing the sale.
Motivation

- In a galaxy full of momentous events and desperate struggle, it is all too easy to forget the poor, the weak, and the downtrodden. The character seeks to give a voice to the voiceless, and help those who can not help themselves.
Morality
Score: 69
STRENGTH: CAUTION
- The character possess commendable prudence, willing to always look before he leaps into a new situation. Their forward-thinking ways may have saved their allies from dangerous situations on numerous occasions.
WEAKNESS: FEAR
- The line between caution and fear is a thin one. Sometimes the character spends too much time concerned about the potential problems of a situation to act in that situation at all.
