Background

TX-98 is a CDE T-Series Tactical Droid that was activated 5 years after the CIS droid armies were given a "Shutdown" order, on the planet of Ogem in the Western Reaches. The CDE TJ-34 Tactical Droid in charge of Droid Battalion 96373 on Ogem Factory 673754 did not see any strategic value in obeying the "Shutdown" order and simply disregarded it. As a precaution, TJ-34 instead operated the droid factory on minimum power levels and had a massive comms and sensor jammer installed in the cave obscuring the factory. TJ-34 had adapted to years of radio silence form the rest of the CIS network, by reassigning many of the B1 battle droids to begin mining operations to find resources to maintain the existing levels of battle droids, tanks, and Vulture droids. Eventually TJ-34 realized that it would be required to build lesser non-threatening droids that could be used trade with organic settlements miles away from the factory. This is where TJ-34 knew that a more intelligent droid would need to be made that could create new types of droids than what the factory had schematics for.

Using the CDE T-Series Tactical Droid Schematics, TJ-34 built a batch of the CDE T-Series Tactical Droids with a higher intelligence capabilities at the sacrifice of other characteristics. TX-98 was the 98th version of the more intelligent CDE T-Series Tactical Droids. Previous models were hyper focused on one specialization, such as Droid Technician, or Cyber Technician, or Slicer, and were very concrete analyzers. Around the 50th model, TJ-34 started having them specialize in more than one area. Many numerous combinations were tried before TX-98 was activated.

TX-98 was an adaptable model with specializations in Droid Tech as well as Slicing, with the ability to learn and adjust it's thinking as required for specific situations. This intuitive and adaptable thinking allowed TX-98 to modify existing schematics to build droids that looked more like the Astromech and Protocol droid the Republic commonly used. The droids TX-98 created didn't look exactly like those types of droids, but they did not look like battle droids. The new droids were able to trade raw minerals mined from the droid factory caves for power generators, power cuplinks, Tibanna gas, and other supplies required to keep the droid community maintenance needs met.

Thirteen years later, Ogem Factory 673754 was discovered by a group of organics in search of a freighter ship that had crashed outside the factory cave. The organics were not Republic forces, and they moved the remains of the down freighter and its valuable cargo of Kyber crystals to the opposite end of the planet. This was done for both their benefit as well as our own. On that day, we had discovered the Republic and the CIS had fallen and a new threat had emerged. The Galactic Empire is the new potential threat our community has to prepare for. The organics provided us some intelligence on the Empire and it tactics that make them a highly formidable foe. TJ-34 determined that the probability of our current location's discovery by the Empire was outside of acceptable parameters. A strategy of with a higher probability of success was formulated to avoid discovery by the Empire. This strategy would require Ogem Factory 673754 and Droid Battalion 96373 to relocate. To increase probability of success, TJ-34 would require more intelligence on the current state of the galaxy, the Empire, and its influence.

This new strategy requires all of the higher cognitive functioning CDE T-Series Tactical Droids, including TX-98, to leave Ogem and gather intelligence across the galaxy and to analyze different factions and provide data on the factions to TJ-34 for him to determine if any could be of benefit in our relocation strategy.
