Background
Fennous is part of a religious order called Mother's Sorrow, part of the Church of Her Children. They serve their god, whom they call the First Mother, in an attempt to reclaim the paradise they lost millennia ago; Korriban. Before the Sith species had even risen to sentience, Korriban was the home of their religion, a paradise that was the birthplace of the galaxy. But the Lords of Beyond, who exist past the edges of the universe, hated everything the Mother had made, and set out to destroy her paradise. For over 30,000 years, Mother's Sorrow has fought to remove the Sith stain on Korriban, but that goal cannot be accomplished until every every Sith, be it the species or the faction, is dead and every bit of their knowledge wiped from history.
The Church had a long standing friendship with the Jedi order that evaporated at some point as they became more dogmatic in their beliefs. They never became enemies but their ideals were too different to continue diplomatic relations.
Motivation
Orders goal is to rid the galaxy of sith and all their teachings.
More immediate goal is to see if the New Jedi Order's goals and beliefs are compatible with the Church so that exchange of ideas can be made again.
Fennous is a devoted follower of the Church, though he is no minister and will generally shy from preaching its message. He would instead try turning you to a more learned elder.
He believes in the general good, and fighting for it, but he does is not afraid of aggression and would not back down from a fight. And why should he not, his goal is pure and Mother will accept their souls into her womb. A warrior in a time of peace, Fennous grew a bit stir crazy at home, but it made him a good fit to travel to Yavin and join the new order as a recruit. He enjoys living and experiencing the emotions life has to offer, but has a deep understanding that it must be taken in moderation and excess can lead down a twisted and selfish path.
