The eldest son of a wealthy Chiss family, Baran's future was never in doubt. His father was a member of the Aristocra, having inherited a multi-generational fortune. Baran attended the top Chiss prepatory academy prior to enrolling in the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force's (CEDF, Chiss armed forces) Officer Training Academy. There he was trained in Advanced Starfighter Strategy (ASS) and became a wing leader of a small Chiss squadron.

Thanks to an officer "lend-lease" program, Baran was able to leverage his status into obtaining an officer's commission in the Imperial Navy. Baran was designated squadron leader of a TIE fighter squadron assigned to the Star Destroyer Allecto.

Physical Description: Red eyes. He sports a comb-over that would be the envy of 21st century Earth Hipsters. To the great frustration of his superiors, he never wears the standard issue flight suit given to all TIE fighter pilots. Instead he wears a fashionable smugglers jacket over a flight jacket and relaxed aviation trousers. He wears a leather blaster holster that shows signs of wear from the constant friction that results from being cooped in a star fighter.

His neck and forearms are adorned with tribal-like tattoos, the origin of which he stays mum. Any attempt to elicit their origin story is met with the business end of a blaster.
