Background

When Tarast was young, he learned that he was touched by the Force. Elated, young Tarast asked if that meant he could join the Jedi Order, but it was not to be: young as he was, Tarast was considered too old to begin his Jedi training.

Shortly thereafter, the Jedi were exterminated by the Galactic Empire at the close of the Clone Wars. Tarast, too old to begin training as a Jedi and too young to fight back against the Empire, went into hiding. First his family and then a wider and wider network of contacts throughout the galaxy smuggled Tarast from planet to planet, teaching him a little of their way of life on each world. Tarast's abiding curiosity found this agreeable, but as a youth he craved some constancy he could not have. He developed a tendency to become fixated on his new challenges, perhaps as a way of coping with the uncertain life he was forced to lead.

Tarast spent fifteen years on the run from the Empire. He had looked forward to a future as a scholar, discovering the mysteries of the Force and the Jedi, but instead he found himself forced into the life of a renegade. Always a curious sort, he studied what he could of the Jedi, and managed to find Rahm Kota. Together, Tarast and Kota spent three years trawling libraries and examining ancient ruins. Kota even helped Tarast construct his own lightsaber. Unfortunately, a close call with an Imperial agent shortly thereafter convinced Tarast that his presence was endangering his master, and the two reluctantly parted ways.

Now, years later, a distress call has reached Tarast Voon: his master is in trouble!

Motivation

Cause - Restore the Jedi: The character wants to see the Jedi Order restored and rebuilt, although what he knows of the Jedi may be limited or even inaccurate. He may want to be a Jedi, or just want to see them return to being a presence in the galaxy.

Morality

76

Emotional Strength - Curiosity: Tarast Voon has an insatiable hunger for
knowledge. He wants to learn all he can, from Jedi mysteries to the local gossip to the lives and doings of those around him. He doesn’t seek this knowledge for the power it brings, but for the joy of learning. Once he learns a new fact or lesson, he happily shares it with anyone who wants to know. At his best, Tarast Voon is full of insight on a wide range of topics.

Emotional Weakness - Obsession: Sometimes Tarast Voon’s desire to learn can get him into trouble. When he sees an opportunity to find out some new fact, he rarely lets it go—even if it means exposing himself and his friends to potential danger. When he encounters a puzzle he can’t solve, he can’t just let it be, but devotes a huge portion of his time to figuring it out. At his worst, Tarast Voon just doesn’t know when to let go.

Description

23 years old

Other Notes

Tarast's view of the Jedi is essentially hero worship. To his mind, they can do no wrong, and they should be brought back.
