Background
Karnstein was born on Chandrila, and enlisted in the imperial army as soon as she was old enough. She became an imperial pilot, but on a mission she disobeyed an order and went in to exile in the underworld, smuggling goods for anyone who paid enough. She eventually joined the resistance after seeing how poorly the empire treats its subjects, feeling guilty for the time she spent in the imperial army.
