Background
Myrin was born on Alpheridies, the homeworld of the Miraluka. In her early years, she was told all manner of stories about the Jedi knights and dreamed of someday being like them. At the age of five, she already proved to have quite a strong connection to the force, even for a Miraluka, and was sent from Alpheridies to Coruscant to begin her training at the temple.
During her time at the temple, she made a good deal of friends with others in her clan. Namely, her best friend, another healer named Siarri Tik, whom she discussed medicine with frequently (and was one of the only people Siarri talked *that* much with), So'lonna and Da'lonna, a pair of Twi'lek twins who shared her interest in science and animals, and others. Myrin was very patient with Da'lonna, the shier of the two, and this helped So'lonna to trust her and eventually become her friend.
Myrin, around the age of 11, asked her clan's instructor to allow her to study to become a consular, a healer in particular. Feeling others in pain distressed her, and she wanted to do what she could to ease any suffering creatures' pain that she came across. Her instructor agreed, thinking it was a good use of her skills.
Though blind, she excelled in her training, save for a quite prominent stubborn streak that almost caused her to fail her second initiate trial. Almost. She passed, but with a few scathing comments from the council to iron out the stubbornness, as it was clear that during her fight, it bred rigidity and inflexible thinking. She went on to pass her third trial and became eligible to participate in the apprentice tournament.
Having passed all three rounds and come out victorious, she became an apprentice, and remained so for three years before the sacking of Coruscant, in which several of her friends, and her instructor, were killed. Her instructor shielded her from a storm trooper's blaster, but was killed in the process. While Myrin hid, she became overwhelmed with grief and despair as she felt her instructor die and become part of the force. When it was safe to, she emerged, and ran to their lifeless body, trying to use what she knew to bring them back, but to no avail.
