Background
1) While on his Journey to change people's conceptions of Neimoidians, he ran into someone who didn't give him the normal distasteful looks he was so used to. Engaging the person in conversation, he realized that even though they were fully cognisant of the trade federations actions, they did not judge him for it. This person explained that they were a Jedi, and that it was against their code to judge someone so hastily. As Teb excused himself, he bumped into a drunk individual. As the fight was about to begin, Teb said "C'mon, you don't really want to fight me." Although it didn't last very long, their was a slight twitch, enough for the Jedi to notice, right before Teb got clocked.
2) The moment that caused him to set out on his own was that one day, while working a Neimoidian trade deal, the other party turned on them. They killed every last Neimoidian, letting all the other species flee, because the 'Trade Federation Scum' didn't deserve to live. Teb barely excaped with his life, and has made it a life goal to change people's conception so that it doesnt happen again.
3) After recovering from the fight, the Jedi Master explained to him what happened, and what he could be capable of. While he resisted at first, Teb was eventually persuaded to humour the Master, long enough for him to show Teb first that the force existed through his own powers, and that Teb had his own connection to the force.
4) Gruth the Gammorean, his frequent travelling companion after the event that brought them together. He is pretty much the only person outside the NJO that Teb is still in touch with, and is constantly making sure that Gruth isn't getting into much trouble. Especially since becoming a Jedi, he's tried to impress his new found values on Gruth with varying successes, but ultimately being at the academy means he has little influence over Gruth's life.
5) Through his travels, Teb found a young Gammorean being bullied by a gang of local thugs. The thugs were punching the Gammorean and kicking him while he was down, till Teb stepped in the path. All of them looked at Teb and threatened him if he didn't move. He refused, and was able to hold them back just long enough for New Republic officers to arrive on the scene and handle the situation. He was badly beaten, but was conscious enough to help up the Gammorean and introduce himself. The Gammorean introduced himself as Gruth, and they have been friends ever since, and ocassional travel companions.
Backstory:
Teb was born a Neimoidian on Neimoidia to a typical family; his father was ambitious and valued information and secrecy, and is actually the one who gave him the concealed recorder as a birthday gift at a young age. His mother helped him run the local family business which allowed them to get by. He lived on planet for most of his life, isolated from the fallout caused by the actions of The Trade Federation decades ago.
When he was old enough, he realized he had to go out and learn about the universe. Using one of his connections, Teb's father set Teb up with a mercantile job on board a trading ship. The job waas simple and boring, but getting to see the universe was exciting. Well, it was exciting until the deal that went wrong.
With the betrayal and murder of the rest of his crew by their business associates, Teb was made aware of the reality of the world. From that day, Teb swore to prevent prejudice against Neimoidians in any way he can. Furthermore, he hoped one day to identify who the partner was, and bring them to justice.
He travelled across the galaxy, accomplishing the task to the best of his ability with varying success, making contacts and burning bridges in a variety of systems. He continued this journey, at one point even travelling with Gruth as both a companion and bodyguard, until the fateful evening that resulted in his recruitment to the NJO.

Strength: Righteousness. Teb believes that all should be treated equally, and not be judged by who they were born as. He fights for his original cause of changing the conception of Neimoidians, but is willing to help any who are affected by injustice.
Weakness: Spite. Sometimes though, Teb is just as bad as everyone else. Specifically, in the case of those who perpetrate the injustice and false stereotypes, his tolerances can draw shot. In those situations, rather than acting better than them, he can be downright worse.
