Background
Titus grew up poor, scraping just to get by on whatever he could find. At a young age, he partnered with a friend, Owen Dysar, to pool their skills and take odd jobs to support themselves. They trained together, fought together, drank together. They were the best fighters around, so they figured they were practically guaranteed a spot when a mercenary guild came to town looking for recruits. Owen found out, however, that they were only looking for one fighter, not two - and his friendship with Titus didn't stop him from breaking his leg to keep him out of the running. Owen went on to impress the mercenary group, and made it off-world. Titus vowed that he would make it off-world too, and spent every waking moment after recovering to that end. Ultimately, he ended up making a deal with a local shady crimelord, going into debt in order to properly equip himself and get started as an independent mercenary.
Motivation
Titus is driven by a need to be the best at what he does. He constantly practices with his weaponry, keeps them well maintained, and trains to be a better soldier and tactician. At the back of his mind is that somewhere out there, Owen is a mercenary as well, and he can't stand the thought of not being better than him.
Obligations
Betrayal - 10 - the betrayal of his friend Owen still rankles in the back of Titus' mind. He has a hard time trusting people now, and trusts more in his guns than in those around him.
Debt - 10 - he owes a large sum of money to the crimelord on his home planet, who financed his original equipping for his mercenary life.
