Background

Note from the engineer Zidrak Zil at the 'Roche Hive Mechanical Apparatus Design and Construction Activity for Those Who Need the Hive's Machines' production facilities:
"To who ever finds this note, yes, there should be a physics prototype droid brain copy we acquired for study from our competitors 'Industrial Automations'.

But as we speak, we are closing a very important deal with a major manufacturer of various goods and we ran out of materials as I accidentally made one inoperable
And this brain has been sitting on the shelves longer than I've worked here. That is saying much as I am soon to retire.

So I will use this in an 8D unit designed for assembly line work, it is a custom order aside from the usual smeltry, they come with tools mounted to its wrists as an extra. There should be no issues with this higher order brain considering the customer only specifies that the factory needs to meet a specific assembly quota with the units.
I also took the liberty to compensate my negligence by upgrading the mental programming considering its increased potential, it will follow the directives of the purchase order but will also try and improve the products and the environment. This will likely make the customer more than happy, we should see no complaints coming out of this, on contrary I hope.

So know that it has not been stolen, you can find the it in this unit, it is the last droid to be shipped to this orders (159023dda098) manifest.

8D-FA32 was always ahead of its likes in the tasks at hand, constantly testing prodding the parts along the way. Fuzzing over the efficiency of the task and the object it was making. Most spare moments was pressed into theorizing ways to improve the product and its production processes while fidgeting with whatever it had close.
But it knew from observing other droids, taking to many liberties would result in a memory wipe, an outcome that would diminish its ability to process and improve.
So caution was taken around the blueprintless, as it referred the biological beings that was its masters within the factory boundaries.
Though cautious as it were it could not help itself, it would shuffle along at the hiatuses that would occur at times, fixing and improving the other units abilities. Not that they would complain.

Its taste for exploring parts, functions and improving processes was however not limited.
Thoughts drifted away as most things in its environment became known.
It seemingly could not sit still and take a moment without exploring something.
One venture further from the production floor after another during the idle hours, improving and copied data from a protocol droid at the office one night, or adjusting the sprinkler system during another.
Eventually the outside world beckoned as one night the back door was left with a broken lock that needed repairs.
Grabbing a nearby backpack to carry the items needed for repairing the door it huddled along into the darkness with the door quietly closing shut behind it with a working lock.

There was nothing keeping it any longer, the order specifications was met, a 9.937% increase in efficiency from all the other 31 units ensured that even with it gone, there would never be an issue to for the factory to meet the quota.

The outside world was not kind to the naive droid, at a time when war was raging between the Seperatists and the Republic trust towards droids was not high. Especially ones acting without a nearby master.
Seeing the many atrocities made by the blueprintless against each other and other droids caused a lot of confusion for the inquisitive being. To many questions of why got logged, every time a perceived illogical action against others or 8D-FA32 occurred.
The queries had to be compartmentalized and contained to not be come overwhelming, one question at a time had to be addressed for the sake of survival.

Initially finding itself lucky with breaking the landing gear of the right ship only to fix it better again, it got him into a group of well meaning haulers. They allowed him the stable time to make plenty of observations regarding the current world order while volunteering as their mechanic. Something that was never communicated, just broken and unknown things could not be tolerated, a mutually beneficial arrangement that allowed the research regarding the world it was in.

One flight led 8D-FA32 to decisive action towards the separatists, a boarding party of droids from a patrol made quick work of the haulers. But left everything else intact.

Little is known from the incident but the Seperatist lost contact with the boarding party, however both the droid ship and the hauling ship were logged flying away.

Without proper programmed protocols for flying 8D-FA32 made a jump that was preprogrammed by the panicking hauler pilot, it led him to Yieshu and a slow automatic docking approach towards Yieshu Orbital station.
