Background
Heka Chtonia was born on Devaron, in a small city that she doesn't remember. When she was 2 years old, her father took her to Nar Shaddaa, telling her that her mother had left because she had secrets. It was a rather traumatizing event for the little girl, who loved her mother very much.
From that point on, Heka's life became a tale of misfortune and survival. Her father died of disease when she was 7 years old, and Heka found herself alone on a planet not known for its kindness towards the unlucky. She learned to steal, to hide, to run and to lie. But most importantly, she learned the two most important things, the two skills that allowed her to stay alive on that cursed planet : to drive, and to listen.
Heka was a street kid until she was too old to be. As she aged, she began to listen to what others said, to tell it to others. She went to places she shouldn't, to tell things she wouldn't know to people who didn't know. Heka was a natural, and had an aura of blandness that made her unnaturally invisible to the untrained eye.
One day, she tried to pickpocket a pretty lady, that looked rather tough, but wouldn't notive being pick pocketed, or so Heka thought. That lady caught her wrist right as she was grabbing the bag, and said "Finally, I meet the little thief of the Rusta Sector".
Heka was scared, and tried to run. She suddenly recognized the lady : she was Selena Tello, the negotiator, one of Loyood's close associates. What Ms. Tello said next surprised the young Devaronian however : "I have a need for an acute set of ears, and an agile set of hands. Would you happen to know where I could find some? I'd pay a nice amount of money for that."
Heka didn't waste a single second thinking about it. The opportunity to earn a steady salary, and the opportunity to learn amongst the best gangsters in the galaxy was too attractive. She started working for Loyood, as an informant, a courier, and a driver for various legal and illegal activities. When Ms. Tello left, Heka was sad, but liked her job too much to follow her.
A few months later, Heka stumbled upon an ex-Imperial officer living on Shaddaa. Listening him talk to someone, she understood that he had worked on an Imperial facility on Devaron that exploded 17 years ago. Heka sensed that this was no coincidence. She looked up what she could on that event, greased some palms and stole documents, and unravelled the truth : her mother had died in an Imperial armored landspeeder prototype, due to a malfunction that ended up being covered up.
Heka wanted revenge, but most importantly, Klei wanted their lies to end, and their actions to be seen by everyone. She fired a quick message to Ms. Tello, asking to join her rebellious cell, and made her way to Lantillies to make the Empire pay.
Motivation
Revelation :
Secrets, especially Imperial ones, have rarely been kept for good reasons. Allowing everyone to know the truth of the Empire drives these PCs, who strive to uncover secrets whenever possible.
Heka has had to suffer from Imperial coverups in the past. She strives to make secrets public, be it from the Empire or anyone else, as she believes that knowing the truth is always better than living in ignorance.
Duties
Intelligence (165):
The PC knows that every victory hinges on knowing as much about the Empire's military might and other assets as possible. He is driven to gather any and all potentially useful data, wishing to locate vital and vulnerable targets for Rebellion forces to strike at. He not only wants to know what the Imperial military factions are up to. but also the state of technological research, economic policies, and other aspects of Imperial strength.
Heka has been working as an informant and a pickpocket since she was 7 years old. She knows better than anyone the lengths people go to gather information on their enemies. She believes that such knowledge is the crux of this war.
Description
Heka is a rather unremarkable female Devaronian. She has pale skin and blond-ish hair, and thanks to that can easily pass for human, if she hides her ears, her teeths and her horns.
She's 19 years of age, 1m70 (5'5''), relatively light, and likes to keep a low profile. As a former street child, she has a tendency to lie to get herself out of trouble, and tries to avoid getting in the middle of a fight.
She really admires the honest and straight-laced people of the Alliance, but looks up to the most down-to-earth operatives the most, as they are the people she strives to become.
